I am. Tonight. Can't wait.
Everything I read about it just screams an SAT-style analogy:
THPS4 is to THPS3 what THPS2 is to THPS1.
Ergo, they fixed everything that was wrong with the game. ^_^
Not suprisingly, the strategy guide for the game came out a few days ago (even though the game comes out TODAY) so some kids at gamefaqs have already posted the secret characters and levels. All the secret characters except for 1 are disappointing.

I could never understand what the attraction was for that game as when I played any Tony Hawk, I'd just skate around, do some jumps, crash, etc.
But then I saw a clip on G4 tv not too long ago and I saw various people doing tricks I never even thought of like riding the skateboard onto rails etc... So now I realize I just sucked

bought it today... jammed out on it for 5 hours straight. pretty good, but seems to have more graphical glitches in this 5 hours of play then i ever noticed in 2 and 3 over hundreds of hours of playtime.
the only thing that i think may be wrong with this game is the incredible difficulty.. i think anyone just getting into this series might want to skip this one- it is friggin hard.

I'm in heaven.
Aside from a few graphical glitches, this game has fixed damn near EVERYTHING wrong with the series.
-You no longer have to go through hundreds of 2-minute runs to beat the game (22 times, I might add...*yawn*)
-The soundtrack has something to please everyone.
-It's finally CHALLENGING! People who have mastered THPS3 will NOT blow through this game (ala THPS2 -> THPS3)
-The trick setup is even better than before, with double taps (for everything, not just 5 of the flip tricks), spine transfers, and skitching.
-MIKE VALLELY IS IN IT! WOOO!

butta- the fact that some of the unlocked movies show her doing voice overs and also that when you get 150,000 carrer dollars a hot chick is unlocked.... im just assuming. i think its a safe assumption though.

I got THPS 4 yesterday. I agree about the difficulty level, especially since there isn't any tutorial anymore (which was included in THPS3).
It took me a bit of time to get used to the GameCube controls, but I think I'm starting to get the grasp of it now. BTW, I like the skitching technique, but there were some occasions when I accidently triggered it, which took me completely out of my current mission.
What's weird is that, when I played THPS2 and 3 on the PSX and PS2, I always used the D-pad (I tried the DualShock joystick, but didn't like it), while it's the contrary with the GCN (I feel completely comfortable using the Gamecube joystick, while I didn't even touch the D-pad yet).
I'm glad of this, because controls were the only reason I might have returned the game to EB (they have a 15-day return policy).
Oh, has anyone found the letters K-T-E to form S-K-A-T-E in the College level? I'm still looking for them...

Anyone got pics yet? I'll probably add this to my Xmas list along with Contra myself. heck, this may be my excuse to sell of THPS2 (Which I got stuck in- I think).

well ive played the first 4 or 5 levels, and yes after the first 2 levels the difficulty does increase. but sometimes its more annoying than tough, i hate skating around looking for crap. still a very fun game, right now im trying to complete the game with my created skater, so i can have his stats maxed to play online.

I have it waiting for me at the game store- Xbox version.
Anyone want to do some online jams? I actually will have to wait until I get the Xbox live thing- if I can get it.
This brings up the topic of online console gaming. Should we make a list of names to put on our 'friends' lists?

There's a pondering.. Same game, different systems.. Too bad they couldn't make the online features cross-system compatible, so you could be playing on a PS2 and skate against your friend on an Xbox.
This the first multi-system game to have online ability?

butta: yeah they are the harder "pro" objectives... youll get to em when you beat a few more goals... definetely raises the difficulty bar!
