I have an idea for a MAMExpose issue (I hope Jess Ragan reads this). Have an issue dedicated to all the arcade ports that Coleco did for the Colecovision! With this issue, the Coleco box covers should also have a showing, you know, the ones with the arcade game at the front.
I faithfully remember those times when Coleco advertised the "arcade-at-home" appeal. These are the arcade games I can recall that were released by Coleco:
- Donkey Kong
- Frenzy
- Mousetrap
- Ladybug
- Zaxxon
- Cosmic Avenger
- Time Pilot
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Carnival
- Looping
- Turbo
- Space Fury
- Venture
- Omega Race
- Gorf?
- Bump-n-Jump?
- Burgertime?
- Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom
- Congo Bongo?
- Front Line
- Mr. Do!
- Pepper II
- Roc 'n Rope?
- Root Beer Tapper?
- Slither?
- Space Panic
- Spy Hunter
- Subroc?
- Star Trek?
Also, there were vaporware arcade translations like:
- Spectar
- Rip Cord
- Side Track
Anyway, it's an idea. Back in 1982, the Colecovision was my second entry into the world of videogames after the arcades, and it made everything awesome for the time. The Colecovision truly brought the arcade culture into my living room and that is why I think a MAMExpose issue on the Colecovision would be great.
