View Full Version : How do YOU carry your GBA games?

Usually on a plane trip I've got a whole lot, so "in one pocket" isn't feasible - so I use a ghetto hawaiian printed sack with a draw string. I really haven't seen any cases that I would pay money for to carry around my horde.
So - how does everyone else go about it?

I don't carry my GBA games around. Problem solved!

I've got this neat official fabric case made by Case Logic for the classic gameboy. It was free with enough of those Power Stamps back when Nintendo Power was doing the promotion.
Holds any iteration of the gameboy and one compartment has a ton of pockets that was meant for classic gameboy carts without the clamshells. GBA carts in snap cases fit in those well enough. Anybody else have one? It's held up pretty well over the years and I've got my entire collection in there, which is a modest 10.

Hmm...I've seen various fabric cases over the years, I think you could buy something like it at the store since they're pretty common.

Exactly- though not all cases are created equal. I don't care much for the new cases styled for the GBA because the compartments seem to be so specialized and you don't get to put so much in them.
My suggestion, to anyone looking for one, is to just pick up a used case meant for the older styles. Cheap!

There's no clear argument that you can make legal backups of your games, sorry.
We'll just pretend that's not true, though ;]

I have a camera case I bought at some flea market that's perfect. GBA in one pocket, game carts in another, plug, earphones, etc. in another. Nice armstrap for carrying through the airport, but I don't look like a 12-year old with a GBA "Pokemon Edition" case.
However, EVERY FRIGGIN' TIME this goes through the airport x-ray, I get stopped and it has to get checked out. You'd think they've seen a zillion Gameboys everyday. But since I'm a 38-year old guy with a GB in a camera case, I'm suspicious. x_x
Even more bizarre, I brought a Vectrex system in my carry-on to last year's CGE. I was prepared to undergo cavity searches at the airport to explain this thing. It passes through the x-ray.
"TV set?" the x-ray guy asks.
"Nope, videogame with a built-in screen" I answer.
He waves me through. @_@ My Gameboy gets me stopped. But a big-assed Vectrex isn't even suspicious.

I use business card organizers (that I found discarded at work). They store about 6 games each, they're stackable, transparent, and they're good for some of the odd-ball GBA carts (like Boktai). I'm still looking for a better solution where I don't have to mess around too much to find what I'm looking for while maintaining easy transportability.

I don't know what yours looks like but I keep my GBA in a oldschool fabric Gameboy case as well. :P Atleast when I'm going out anyway. Otherwise my SP sits in an aluminum lock box looking thing made by Intec.

I keep my GBA games in an old fabric case ment for the original gb. I also put the games in cases that were ment for the GB games, too. But they fit good in those. The games I don't bring with me are in a plastic storage bin thingy.

I got an official Nintendo GBASP case at a dollar store here that holds 5 games at a time (1 in the GBASP and 4 in pockets) and earphones. I used to try to keep my whole collection with me, but that stopped working once it grew past 25. And now I believe I have ~50 GBA games (And even more for the other GBs!).

I can also advocate the 3rd party cases. The open-close transparent ones by Hip Gear (wow, what a name) cover the entire cartridge reliably, keeping stuff in mint condition. My copy of Blackthorne even went through the dryer (!) unscathed in one of those.

When I go on a plane I usually just stuff all my portable games into a backpack, along with anything else I might need for the the flight. If I'm worried that the cartridges might get lost, I'll pack them in their boxes before they go into my bag.

I wouldn't be comfortable having them rolled up like a pack of cigs, but I give props for the manliness--especially after reflecting upon how I carry mine. I use a Mary Kay make-up purse. Don't ask how this came into my posession.

You can fit about four into a condom, and then you're good to go. Unless the filthy pigs do a cavity search.

I've been using small, plastic cases sold at the Dollar General Store for, I think, 3 for $1.00. They each fit 10 games almost perfectly, and stack well when not in use.

I have a metallic "Pro Gamerz Case" made by Intec. It has four square compartments designed to hold games in little cases. But I don't like little cases. So I can fit 10 games in each square. Making a total of 40 GBA games with me at all time. It has room for a second GBA SP if I needed it. I'll use that for something else. I only have 9 games right now. Only 31 more to go.

I use the Intec ProGamers Case. Fits my SP, a pair of earbuds, a spare battery, and about 40 GBA and GB games. Individually, I put each cart I think I may play into a Pelican sleeve. Games I've beat or have no intention of playing go into this Pelican 4 game holder which fits great in the top flap of the ProGamers Case.

I made myself a little box to hold them. Take a piece of cardboard, make some measured cuts, fold inwards and tape in place. It's actually pretty crummy looking, but it does the job.
Although my GBA box looks bad, I previously made an excellent one for my Lynx that I "painted" black (with a black marker) and drew the Lynx logo on the side with yellow and orange markers. If it wasn't for the fact that I made it with cardboard and hockey tape, it would look almost professional! However, I care about my Lynx much more than my GBA, so aside from drawing a crude Nintendo logo on the side with a red marker, I didn't try very hard on that one.
I don't generally use either for travel purposes though... they're mostly there to keep the games from being strewn all over my room.

When I was at GameStop trying to decide to buy it, I asked the employees and they actually tried to talk me out of it saying "With that thing, your GBA is no longer portable." Which really makes no sense. It's not a damn brick. Ican carry it just fine and I can't wait to fill it with games. So I bought it. Haven't regretted it. I can keep my Game boxes on the shelf and put the games in the case. When it gets to the point I have 40 games and need to retire one or two to make room for another, I can just put them in their boxes. It's great.
I just hope I never have to fly anywhere with it. After reading that story above... Maybe I can store it in a Vectrex.

That actually sounds kickass... I guess my Intec is like the mini-version. I'm keeping my cartridges (in clamshells) in an Armitage lunchbox right now along with my old GBA accessories but something like that would be a lot more organized.
Does it only have room for GBA games or can you fit regular GB sized games in there? I had that problem with an official GBA case. :/

Im kinda bad when it comes to this. I just put the few that i want to play in a ziploc baggie and go from there. Since ive ususally got my backpack too, they sit in the little pocket that my backpack has for the portable cd player. I had a case for my GBC, but that turned into the home for my NeoGeo Pocket Color and its games. Ive got a GBA case, but it really isnt used anymore, because once i got past the 6 or so games that it could hold, it stopped gettting used.

I second this. I've got a neoprene case, that holds the GBA on one side and has enough room on the other for 4 carts and 2 sets of batteries. My flash cart usually resides inside the unit. The perfect size for travel.
I found in the past I would bring too many cartridges along and never play them. Now I travel light. Plus with pocket NES on the flash cart I have enough variety to keep me busy.

If I try, I can only fit 4 older GB games in each square with a lot of empty space left over.
I really only have 4 GB games I can play. One I'd never play. And the others I plan on replacing with GBA versions if possible. Tetris, Tetris Attack and Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong '94 could be replaced with Mario vs. Donkey Kong. It's basically alike. Not exact, but enough to make me retire the 10-year-old. (I've beaten that one anyway.)
Tetris can be replaced with Tetris Worlds. I'd RATHER have a better Tetris to replace it with. I really hate the look of the GBA Tetris Worlds. Like some crappy pre-rendered early 90's PC game the graphics are so bad. And the blocks look blah.
But Tetris Attack.. what do I replace that with? I could import the Japanese remake if there is one. Is there one? I dunno. I really like it. Besides, I love the music in this one. Too bad they can't remake this exact game.

Heh I love my GameBoy Tetris I mean sure it's simple and basic but that's all you really need. They try and cram too many features on the new Tetris games. I think the only tetris I've ever played where the graphics were arguably a hell of a lot cooler then the original's was the Tetris mini game in the Monty Python's Holy Grail PC Game... stacking up contorted dead bodies was just plain cool. :P
Anyway usually when I go out with my SP I take Tetris, an RPG, and ZooCube... it's a quirky little puzzel game but I'm hooked.

Thought I was going crazy, but I think it is Gamers. I don't see why the GameStop kids would say it makes your GBA non portable. It amkes it easy to bring a ton of games around with you. I often just leave it in my car so I can whichever game I crave at any moment, not just the games I brought with me. I mean, it even has a handle! :P I also have the Pro Gamer's cases for my PS2 and Gamecube. They don't hold near as many games as the GBA one, about 4 and 5 respectively, but they do make transportation very easy. And you look cool carrying two aluminum boxes around.
I feel uncomfortable putting games back into their boxes. Why? I don't know. Afraid they'll get lost, I guess. So I have several bags. Games that don't make into the Intec case go into either an old GameBoy case, or a GBA hip case I bought long ago. The old GameBoy case is filled now, though, and the GBAa case is quickly filling. So next I have another GBA hip case, and a few various older Gameboy cases to fill. This is also starting to bother me, having all my games spread around like that makes me worried about losing some. (See a pattern). So, I need a large scale, permament storage solution. Haven't some up with any Ideas, yet.

Ohhh.. NOW I get it.
Do you have a different one? That link is for the original Game Boy Advance.
MINE is the SP model and it IS spelled "Gamerz". I KNOW it is "Gamerz" because my brother pointed it out to me and remarked "Ew.. you know it must suck. They used a 'Z' in place of an 'S'." So I am 100% positive it is spelled with a Z. Trying to be all "cool" and "hip".
Also, mine cost $19.99 and was just the case.
http://www.cybergiftcenter.com/applications/search/itemdetails.asp?sku=CI-G1505
That is the model I have, but it IS spelled with a Z on the packaging. Despite what the idiots on that website say.
And shit. Even Intec themselves list it as "Gamer's". What the fuck? Do I have an older one? MINE IS A Z!!! HAHAHAHA!! I HAVE TEH RARE TYPO ONE!!!!11!!1 LOLZ0RZ!!!1
*cough*
Anyway. Too bad I threw away the package. I'll have to check next time I go to GameStop. Funny. Maybe Intec realized they were stupidly naming it with a Z and changed it. That's what I'm guessing.

Subject: Pro Gamerz Case
Hello, I bought a Pro Gamerz Case at GameStop a few weeks ago. I pointed it out to a friend and they said it was spelled with an "S" instead of a "Z". I know this is a weird question, but I'm confused. My packaging specifically was spelled with a "Z". But now even on your website, it is now spelled with an "S".
Am I going crazy, or did you guys change the spelling?
This is my product. But with a Z instead. And it may not have the apostrophe. I can't remember as I threw out the packaging.

I have the SP, case only model as well. I threw away my packaging also, so I have no idea which way mine was spelled. I just did a quick search on the net to find the name of it because I can never remember. So, now, which is the rare one? I need to get to GameStop to get some MIB.
Whichever way it's spelled, the case still kicks ass.

Agreed. I don't know about really being "Rare" since you can't tell at a glance which it is. It was just a name change. All I know is the Stop had a few three weeks ago when I went in to buy a game. So I got it. Despite the spelling.
I'm just excited I got a response and that I wasn't crazy. :D
