Oh, I see what you mean now. A backup device? It's supposed to be illegal to import those into America, but maybe Australia has different laws. Hmm...in any case, you can find these if you check the auction sites long enough you'll come across them. I forget the names of them all, I think Game Doctor is one of the units. Probably all the systems you'll find will plug into a Super Famicom, though, which might not be helpful if you're looking for PAL/US version type releases.

i know that you can't find 'em on ebay or many other auction sites (damn the law! ;) ). my friend has almost exactly the same thing for his megadrive. it's dubbed a 'magic drive' i believe. i also played the SNES version when i was around 15 or so. it consists of a device plugged into the top of the SNES with a game cart plugged in it (kinda like a converter i think), but then a 3.5 inch disk drive is plugged into the device in the SNES. you just then insert whatver SNES game you like (on 3.5 disk) in the drive and away you go. it's great for downloading rare games from the internet in this day and age, but when i played the SNES drive 10 years ago it blew my friekin' mind!
that's the best way i can describe it at the moment (i'm on my way out!).

Oh, I know what you mean. I'm no help, though. I actually want one of these myself.

There was something like that for the N64. I think it was called the Z64 or something. Are you sure that's not what you're thinking of?

I have one for the SNES. I found an auction on the 'bay for it, emailed the guy selling it and asked him to sell it to me privately when Ebay eventually pulled the auction. Not really reliable, but it worked for me.

I have an N64 one, a SNES one, and a Sega Genesis one.
I paid $200 new for my SNES one (super wildcard dx) and $300 for the N64 one (z64). I know quite a bit about these and other units and would be glad to answer any questions.
The website below sells these units (used). Due to exchange rates, they're rather expensive from his site right now, but if nothing else it gives you a good list of names to be on the lookout for.

It is my understanding that UCON64 (http://ucon64.sourceforge.net/) is indispensible if you have a game copier. They've also got some nice pictures of units at http://ucon64.sourceforge.net/ucon64/hardware.html .
The Z64 used Zip disks for storage and retrieval, IIRC, but other units used CDs.
