Just got a Nomad, and what a great little(ish) thing it is :) I absolutely love it! Now, I can get free batteries from work, so this is not an especially urgent query - but I would like to know what the possiblities are for running a Nomad from the UK power supply. Presumably if I just plug in a UK Megadive power adapter, I am in danger of frying insides of this thing? I really don't want to do that ...

Anyone got a solution / answer?

I am very impressed with this piece of kit. And since I managed to get a Nitro 2 adapter a couple of weeks ago, I can even play Alien Soldier on it ... and my goodness, it is fantastic! It's a pretty fast paced game anyway, when you play it on a UK console - but playing it on the Nomad, it is even faster ... it's insane!!

Well the power adapter part is all external anyhow. Best thing to do would be to find out if the power requirements of the Nomad match that of a UK Megadrive INTERNALLY. If they do, then you should be able to use a UK power supply no problem. After all, lots of people I know use UK power adapters on their import Cubes because all of them (regardless of region) have the same internal requirements. The power adapter is just different for each place to reduce it from source to what the Cube wants.

I'm pretty sure that either a MD1 or MD2 powerpack will be fine (I can't remember which, but suspect MD2).
My Genesis runs fine with a MD1 power pack, so unless the Nomad changed much internally, then you should be ok with a Euro adaptor.

Yeah, Nomad uses MD2 PSU.
Hope it still works, Nomad's PSU jack isn't the most reliable thing Sega has created.

Thanks guys! I have a coupla MD2 around (for my Multimega and 32X) so I will give it a go. I hope the jack is still working ... the Nomad is in very nice condition, hardly looks used (even got the little placcy bag it was wrapped in!)

I also have a JP Megadrive / Mega CD combo .. I presume I can pull off the same trick with those? That would be great! I could finally play some Japanese Mega CD games!!

The only Jap hardware I've owned was a MegaJet, but that was fine with a MD1 adaptor, so I doubt you'll have any problems.
