WOW!
There were packs of people around BOTH machines at the local arcade here. One of the machines even had a giant TV on TOP of the cabinet so that everyone could watch without having to crowd the player!

Apparently this runs on LASER DISC. Look at the graphics! Those are not still images - the game actually runs like a cartoon that YOU CONTROL! Memorization is the key because the scenes have a set pattern that you need to follow both in sequence and timing. One really cool feature is that the scenes don't always follow the same order and some of them are MIRRORED/reversed!

Get over to your arcade NOW. This is surely the FUTURE OF VIDEO GAMING!

I remember the first time I saw that game at an arcade in Connecticut. It was pretty neato back then, but not that fun to play at all. I could never get anywhere...
My favorite gimmick arcade game though is Sega's Hologram. with the Cowboy who travels through time. That was awesome.

I JUST saw that Dragon's Lair game on that Starcade show - they did a whole show of ONLY Dragon's Lair! It was awesome! There's this one part where you have to try and jump through a wall before it closes you in - the kid playing didn't make it and Dirk the Daring got stuck! LOL
Then there was another scene where the kid totally drank this potion that said "DRINK ME" and when he drank it, he died! Totally awesome. I can't wait to play it! I bet every game that comes out will be like Dragon's Lair from now on.

That is so cool! :eek 2: One of my D&D group saw it at Aladdin's Castle in the mall and told us about it last night! I can't believe you can control a cartoon like that! I'll bet that these 'lazer games' will be all over the arcades soon. Can virtual reality be that far behind?

I've been trying to play this at my local arcade for weeks but everyone keeps crowding the machines. I hate those dorks that don't give others a chance. I did get to watch a bit and you may be right about the future of gaming. Its totally rad 8-)

Does this happen to have anything to do with "Tetragaming Roundheads '83 Forum Incest?"
Anyhow, 1983 mode for me...

I tried to play it at Chuck E Cheeses but the game kept blacking out and nothing seemed to work. Must've been a dud.

I too haven't had a chance to play this game. This is one of those new laserdisc games, right? I've heard this is the greatest thing. By the way, did anyone see last weeks episode of Square Pegs? Those kids are so funny!

Wh-wh-WHAT?!? That's a SCREENSHOT?!?!?
*cleans non-existant glasses, squints, rubs eyes, takes another glance, repeats process, starts crying*
Wow... what an age we live in... no matter how much video games evolve, NOTHING will be able to top this graphical caliber. Nothing, I tells ya.

WOW!
I saw someone play it to the end this afternoon. You should see Daphne in her skimpy outfit waiting for you to rescue her from her prison! Va Va VOOM! I am in LOVE!

There has never been a video game hottie like this, and there never will be. Even if they make a sequel using space characters and give the female red hair and a personality!

You guys are silly! But they really did re-release Dragon's Lair back in the arcade using a harddrive instead of a laserdisc player. Its released through ultracade. Check it out HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3284535086&category=13716)

I played this game last night. I think. I mean, I moved the joystick around, and things happened on the screen, but I didn't feel like I was actually in control of the game. I really like Don Bluth's cartoons, but trying to pass one off as a video game stinks.
They're already making a spinoff called Space Ace, and other companies are making their own laser disc games too. I think this sets a dangerous precedent for video games, where the video becomes more important than the game. I'll probably take a lot of flack for this, but I'm not fond of this trend at all.

hummmmmmm Dragon's Lair looks nice doesn't play well though I know played once earler today. You should really take a look at Mystar's latest game. The game is MACH 3 and it really looks cool and is also a great game to play as well.

Yeah, MACH 3! Now that one IS pretty good... it's the perfect blend of engrossing gameplay and astonishing graphics. Now I could get into more laserdisc games like that. I just hope we don't see more of these cartoons with joysticks attached to them.
