Well, this cinches the rumor then.

I don't see a big rush though. Anyone think they'll really "Sell out" here? I'd onlyget the Zelda, though. Then the US SMB to go with my Japanese SMB. Other than that, meh for now.

(I hope they're available everywhere and not just GS and EB. I'd love these to show up at Kmart. 10% Discount. Put some aside for when they go on Clearance. Piece of cake collecting entire set.

I think it's neat they used the original font on the GBA box and the original artwork. But I'm disappointed in how unworthy our US versions are to the Japanese packaging. NOJ goes all out whereas NOA just puts them out. Or something. Whatever. Plus, the Zelda box disappoints. Black? It's SUPPOSED to be GOLD. And some of the choices of games still suck. Where's a nice Kid Icarus? Balloon Fight? Other NES games that made the NES what it is. Popeye!???

Mixed feelings. Good collectors item. Will definately look into the whole set. $160 for all the games. $100 for the system. A whole set for $260+Tax.

The box is pretty cool...but I still love the Japanese version infinately better. I want one, but I think I will hold off for a little while.

I'll just wait and buy one when they come out. I can't imagine they'll sell out with such mixed feelings on em.

Don't expect to see Popeye re-released anytime soon. I doubt that Nintendo still holds the licenced rights for the videogame. And paying King Features Syndicates for the licence would be too costly for a one-shot game...

The only way I see Nintendo doing this would be by modifying the sprites of the game and changing the title (but then, no one would buy it, as they wouldn't know that it's actually Popeye).

Cant wait. This will be my first hand held buy since the original Gameboy.
And all of those games are in my basket for sure ;)

Id get one if I had extra money. The games are 20 bucks. Its cheap but not cheap. Its cheap for a new gameboy advance game. But the same things are for nes and are worth 1-5 bucks. It would just seem like I got extremely ripped off if I bought a smb1 games for 20 bucks.

I'm definetly ordering one, my little brother's tired of me stealing his SP. :D

I'm getting one too, however I'm not sure if I'm going to get any of the games. I have pretty much all of them for NES anyway.

Hmm $ 100,- is relative cheap, to bad i can't take the guess to pre-order one as i have to save money for my vacation but hopefully they are not so limited so i can pick one up later :)

I am not into handhelds or portable gaming. BUT, I will probably get this. It looks so friggin cool.

I dunno...I think it looks both cheap and silly. The Famicom one looks MUCH better IMHO - simply because they used the color scheme rather than sticking what appears to be a sticker over a gray gameboy.

The nes was gray you know.

Seconded ;)

One of these days Nintendo's gotta release a "20th Anniversary GameBoy Classic GameBoy (advance 3 etc.)" LOL

I don't get why anybody would bother buying the SMB cart from this set. Why not get SMB DX for gameboy color? I'm sure the graphics are virtually identical, and this one had extra cool stuff added. Plus, it's probably cheaper.

Yes, it would be better to just buy a used copy of SMB DX, but those almost always command high prices if you can even find one, at places that sell used games.

IMO, I would buy an SMB DX cart than the GBA re-issue which supposedly doesn't have any enhancements.

Nintendo is just milking this whole "nostalgic 20th anniversary thingie" for what it's worth.

Even though I already have a Cobalt Blue GBA SP, I'll consider buying the NES Controller styled one, but I'll have to see it up close before I decide to buy one.

It would be 10 times cooler if it was designed like the toaster. It could ahve the ridges going across the top, and a little flap were teh carts go in. I would pay an extra 50 bucks if they made it like that. That would be awsome. :-P

I imagine the viewing area would be greater on the GBA port. Personally I think the only game remotely worth 20 bucks would be the Zelda cart but that's strictly in terms of replay value. I won't be getting any of these. I bet if copies don't sell fast enough there will be markdowns to 15, 10 bucks a pop, and that would be interesting.

I wonder if the NES design will be silkscreened and if it will be durable. Anybody notice if their SP's metallic coating has started to flake/rub off yet?

Um...I know. I'm complaining about the sticker. Stickers are ghetto.

damn.....I can't really see paying another 100$ for a third GBASP on top of 20$ per classic nes game. Of course they're damn good games, but not worth paying that much, save maybe only zelda. Ugh, I hope this is gamestop only, damn my impulse buys at work!!!

I agree with that.

Yeah, I mean...stickers aren't ideal. I'm definitely getting this thing, though. I never got an SP - only have the original. I've been waiting for something like this to come along to tip my hand. Maybe it's just me, but I really like the original NES colors + style. I'd rather have that than the colors the N64, GameCube, and SNES were made with.

I'll definitely be getting one. I don't know about the games, though, unless they contain all the original instruction manuals the games had and everything. Anybody know?

Yes, My Sp's metallic coating has a "rubbed out" look to it. It does get a good amount of use. I take really good care of it though. I wished I had either waited and got a black one or one of the others that doesn't seem to have a coating to it.

Well I pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. today. Anyone else pre-order any of these games? I'm a bit dissapointed with the selection of games. I hope they come out with more at a later date...

I am gonna wait for a price drop to buy this. Especially for the games. I cant see myself paying $20 for a classic nes game.

Yup, already reserved mine about one month ago. I reserved the system along with:
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros.
Donkey Kong
Excitebike

I really don't like the other games at all but might get them just to complete series? We'll see.

Well the thing is, I bet but am not for sure, these will only be made in limited numbers. Not like how stores keep in stock the silver, black, etc. colors, but the NES GBA SP, at least I think will be guaranteed to be in limited quantity.

Not the quantity that if your lucky you might get one, but after a few months, or if they decide to make NO more games in the series they will seize production on them.
But who know, they could even stop making the special NES sp's system, but still make new and different games in the series?
:D

I have the Famicon SP, but I've never used it for that very reason. I have the Gold SP and it has tiny scratches all over it even tho I'm very careful with it.

I preordered my NES LE the first day it was in the computer at Gamestop.

I just recently got a gold Game Boy Pocket, and the paint is wearing off on the edges and where hand placement usually is. Looks like it's seen an assload of use, and it belonged to a kid, so I don't think the metallic paint will wear unless you're using(and abusing) it a lot.

I paid in full for mine the first day I heard of it :D And now I am pre-ordering a game a week for it. (paying in full of course) ;)
