This came into my head while watching a billiards tournament on ESPN the other day. I started wondering what the Hell the best billiards video game is. Then my mind drifted to other sports. What's the best fishing game? Hunting? Darts? Casino/gambling? Anyone here have any favorites when it comes to the sports that walk the line that defines "sport"?

My favorite casino game of all time is probably still Vegas Dreams for the original NES.

How about pinball? There's lots of pinball games out there and I haven't played that many of them but I did kind of like Pinball Dreams for the SNES. I'd like to hear what others think the best pinball games are.

For casino gambling, I like Vegas Stakes for the SNES...would that be a sequel to the NES game?

How about Duck Hunt? (Dog laughs annoyingly...)

Magic Darts- NES-Best. Darts. Game. Ever.

Bowling-Ten Pin Alley-The series really needs a good update. I enjoyed it back in the day though.

Pinball-The Saturn Pinball game- I enjoyed this one, can't remember what it is called. I also enjoyed Pinball Adventure for the NES.

I haven't played a good console Billiards game since Side Pocket...

Now on PC, you can't beat the Virtual Pool series, although I like Virtual Pool Hall better than the newer VP3...

Ten Pin Alley is the best bowling game for sure...also check out Brunswick Pro Circuit Bowling 2 (better pin physics than the first one by far) on PS1 for a good sim w/ pros.

And Take-Out Weight Curling is an absolute great sim of that game :) Same company just released Friday Night Bowling and Pool, haven't had a chance to try it out yet..

Best fishing game?? Sega Bass Fishing for the Dreamcast with the controller 8-)

I've got a soft spot for Revenge of the Gator Pinball on GB. That game kicked ass.

I shoot alot of pool. I still have never found a pool game I like besides Yahoo Pool. The camera angles just make the games unpleasent.

I want a pool game where I can fight Minnesota Fats.

C'mon, where's the next Ninja Golf? And shouldn't this genre be called "loser games"? How much does it cost to use a real pool table? A buck and a half? Get a beer for three bucks, get two beers and a girl for free.

We'll have "loser games" include all those other games that should never have been made, like Sneak 'N Peek. Videogame hide-and-seek. Gimmie my darts.

From my experience the best pinball video games (a subject I was just talking about today) would be Take-Two Interactive's Pro Pinball series (the best of which is Big Race USA) and SEGA's Pinball of the Dead and Sonic Pinball Party. Both game feature astoundingly realistic physics (for video pinball... heh, that terminology reminds me of the Atari VCS game) and an awesome audio/visual experience. The SEGA games feature remixes of the music, sound effects, and visuals from the games that inspired them, and the Take-Two games have a very authentic feel to the tables. They both feature the modern amber animated led display for notices and animations by having a transparent overlay at the top of the table that disappears when not displaying pertainent information. The layouts of the tables in both sets are really well thought-out and challenging.

As far as other non-sports sports games go, I'm not much of a "sportster" so I can't comment too much. I must say that Sierra Sport's Maximum Pool looks quite good and has fairly positive reviews, but the copy I bought for six dollars had minor surface scratches that attracted the view of the shopkeeper. Being a close customer of his he decided to do me the favor of a free surface rebuffering. Unfortunately the side effect is that the disc is either too shiny LOL for my Dreamcast to read the data track (reads the audio warning track fine) or he buffed a bit too close to the surface. Either way I moved before I tested it and thus the subject of asking for a refund/trade is a bit of water under the bridge.

Anyone with recommendations on how to get my DC to read the disc are welcome present them. Keep in mind that it reads all my other games and miscellaneous compact discs just fine.

I enjoy the bowling and billards mini games in Super Monkey Ball 1, 2 if you want to count them. Usually you can't go wrong with pinball games. I'm also a fan of the game Bowling for the PS1...its probably the only PS1 budget title that I like.

Isn't Tapper kind of an event? If the guys at the "reality" shows (Fear Factor, Survivor, etc.) ever learn of it, they might want to incorporate it into one of their shows... LOL
