Is this ikaruga secret true?

I'm having trouble beating ikaruga because I basically suck at it. I found this tip on gamefaqs and I'm wondering if it is true. If you play for over 1 hour it increases your continues to 9 and if you play over the hour it gives you unlimited continues. True at all?

it is true... although not exactly how you have it stated.

if i remember... i could be wrong, but it adds 1 credit per hour you play (start with 3 credits... after playing for an hour, you get 4 credits... and so on) until i think 7 hours, when it will give you unlimited credits. so log 7 hours and you're set.
