I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find it when I searched. So anyway, I finally bought a Master System that works :-P this weekend and I wanted to get opinions on the best games for the system. Also, what games are the hardest to find, in your experience?

Double Dragon for the Master System is one of the best translations of the arcade game for home consoles. It's 2 player simultaneous and sticks very closely to the layout of the arcade.

I strongly recommend it. It's even better with a friend.

Sorry for the double post. My computer is drag-ass slow for some reason, and this results in double posts.

The games are DEFINITELY the hardest to find are Buster Douglas Boxing and Slap Shot. I've been searching for both for quite a while and still haven't found one.

heh...I remember a while ago I saw Buster Douglas at a goodwill but didn't get it cause I wasn't really into the sms at the time. =\

Anyhow, so far I've loved just about everything I've played on the SMS. I would recommend Alex Kidd series, Choplifter, Penguin Land, Shinobi, Wonderboy series, Spy vs Spy, R-Type, Spell Caster. I have the 3d set sittin in the closet but have yet to use the 3d glasses still....I should probably try it out on zaxxon, cause I heard the glasses are really damn good. From what I've heard, Maze Hunter, Zaxxon, and Space Harrier all have solid 3d versions.

I to was thinking this same question about a week ago when i was at multimedia 1.0 in NYC i was trying to think what games to get so i didnt pick any up because i didnt know what was good. But im going back up to NYC in 2 weeks so this post will be of good use.

Anywho for SMS I think Pysco Fox and AfterBurner are both pretty cool.

there are very few bad games for the SMS, with the exeption of anything that has "great" or "super" in the title (exept for Super Space invaders)

If you can import them, I reccomend:
Asterix
Asterix and the secret mission
The Lucky Dime Caper
Deep Duck Trouble
Castle of illusion
Land of illusion

all solid platformers with superb graphics.

Some of my favorites:

All the Wonder Boy games
Most of the Alex Kidd games
Golvellius
Golden Axe Warrior
Cloud Master

I'm not a big fan of Phantasy Star myself, but everyone else seems to rave about it, so you'll probably like it.

If you can import also donīt forget...
Streets of rage
Fantasy zone: The maze

I also like Aztec adventure, but i donīt think that most people should appreciate this...

Fantasy Zone is my all time favorite SMS Game and Shinobi also rules, as does After Burner.

Lesse...

Montezuma's Revenge is fun as hell

Anything with "Fantasy Zone" in the title is key.

Pro Wrestling is a fun little romp, rocky isn't bad either. Reggie Jackson Baseball = <3 all three of these should be super cheap.

Choplifter has a great port as well...

that's all I got for now, I'll remember more later.

Power Strike 1 and 2 are great shooters. 2 is import only unfortunately but worth tracking down.

Captain Silver is a decent platformer. Get the European version of that one if you can, since the US release was chopped up like hell.

Yeah, but since the European version (even though it'll play fine on a US system) has a different box, manual and cart label, it can't be used to complete a US collection.
