What video game for a console, that is actually available right now, is considered to be the most state of the art video game? Basically, if a video gamer from another planet came to our planet and talked to you and asked you, "What is your most advanced, State of the Art, Cutting Edge video game on Planet Earth?"
What would you say is that game?
I guess it all comes down to perceptions and stuff. It all comes down to different opinions. Like they say, Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one.
But had I asked this question about two weeks after Halo first came out, there would actually be a consensous answer to this question. Right now, the answer would probably vary depending on a particular persons personal preference in gaming. At least until Doom 3 or Half Life 2 or Halo 2 comes out on a Video Game console.
But if you could humor me and give me your best guess as to the most cutting edge, technological marvel currently available.
Also, the game doesn't have to be a great game, or even a good game as far as gameplay is concerned, but it can't be complete shit either. It has to be relatively decent game, as far as gameplay goes, but when I'm talking state of the art, and cutting edge, I'm talking mostly about the audio/visual experience that it provides.
Basically what game would you pull out if you want to blow somebody away that has come over to your house and they aren't really gamers and they don't really know much about what gamers are out now or anything, but they just want to see what the best video game is that is out right now. And of course this is assuming that you have access to every video game currently available, because I don't want you to restrict this to just games that you happen to have, but any game that is currently available.

Are we limiting this to just graphics?
As a staple, you have to have something to look at when playing a game, wether it's 2600 or Xbox qualities, fine. I think when you start adding the peripherals is when it gets more advanced. You can make something pretty, but I think implementing voice commands (Lifeline, Seaman, etc.) or sensor peripherals (Samba de Amigo, Para Para Paradise) and even light gun games (Duck Hunt, HotD series) have more aspects than just good graphics.

No, it doesn't have to do with just graphics, but graphics should play a huge role.
I'm talking about the most impressive and state of the art audio/visual experience currently available.
If President G Dubbya came to your house and said, "Son, I want you to show me the most technologically advanced, state of the art, cutting edge video game to ever come out".
What would you show him?
Assuming you had access to every video game out there.
Also, I am talking about console games only.

Can't think of just one, so here's a few off the top of my head: Metal Gear Solid 2, Gran Turismo 3, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Silent Hill 3.
Although Resident Evil 4 looks like it's going to put all those games to shame. The same could be said for Halo 2 or Gran Turismo 4.

Honestly, I would have to toy with him and say "ET, 2600"

Visually it's probably Farcry when it's going to be released for Xbox ... although by then, other games might be out before this one on the consoles (afaik it's scheduled for release in December). The PC version at least is the "best" (most realistic) I've seen graphics-wise ever in gaming history, seems to be about equal to Doom3 :)

I have never personally played it, or even touched the controller, but I would have to go with Steel Battalion (XBox). Along with the 40 button controller and new online XBox live game, that has to be the most advanced game out there right now.

LOL Well, at this point, I've given up on the fact that people assume I'm a boy for some reason, when all other signs point to "girl"

ah achika..."a chica" hahahahah I get it, see told you watching mid ninties wreslting paid off!
no seriously I knew she was a girl
Panzer Dragoon Orta still impresses the hell out of me to this very day. Not only does it have awesome graphics, awesome gameplay, awesome sound, and tons of awesome extras, it also has awesome art direction. Damn, my post sounds like a fuckin Lamepro article! That's what really sets it apart for me from everything else, the fact that damn near every frame of PDO is a piece of art. PDO gets my vote. It's too bad that it will most likely be the last entry into the series. I don't think it sold well which totally sucks.

Yeah but imagine how many buttons are used in a real tank/fighter plane.
Im pretty sure the most state of the art videogame would not be found as a home console.
It would have to be Millitary or NASA or some shit.

Yet another for Steel Batallion.
Such an impressive controller, "lifelike" physics, superb graphics and sound, add on the abitility for linked/online play (with voice chat?), I don't think there is much better....unless you go to the arcade.
