I am being offered a near mint/mint CDI 370 with the box and all the paperwork and acc.

I was wondering what they tend to go for in this condition as I have yet to see one go on ebay.

also, are they actually worth getting? the screen looks wonderful, but is the system itself any good? I have 0 experience with CDI, but this portable looks really niiiice :-P .

thanks in advance :D

CDi is a neat little system I quite like mine. It's good for point and clicks and you really can't go wrong with games like Burn cycle and 7th Guest. Games also tend to be dirt cheap, with the Zeldas being the exception (not that you'd want them... athough Zelda's Adventure is kinda quirky and not half bad).

Just don't bring it into daylight or near a clove of garlic or it will burn up.

If you get it (Which I suggest you do as the CD-i is a very weird system for games) I'd suggest Hotel Mario. Fun little puzzle/platform game with hilariously badly done cartoon sequences.

Use the online guide!

Select CD-i and punch 370 into the title.

Well this guy sells the 350 on Ebay for $149.99 Brand New.

I don't know if there is much of a price difference between it and the 370.

The 350 is nice but it's no 370! The 370 has a built in rechargeable battery pack so you can actually take it with you on the road!

A great system! It might even have been the first disc based system I bought since my PlayStation back in 1997...it's certainly the second disc based system I bought *and* played ;)

The drive in it might go a bit flaky, though. That would not be unprecedented ;)

Oh, erm, another thought.

I always like to complain about the drive being bad on this system, but I believe I paid $300 for all this stuff and (with the exception of The 7th Guest) there's nothing about the drive being a little wacko that's unbearable. It was kept in pristine condition and I got a whole ton of games (?) with it, two battery packs, a number of controllers, cords, the box *and* a carry case.

If you can do better than that buying this stuff loose, go for it! I would expect the two Zelda titles alone to help bring your price up, however. As always - look for the packages when you can! Perhaps you CAN do better buying a lot, so keep on looking and looking. The first deal you find is often not the best!

hmm thats a sorta sweet portable, does it play VCDs? too bad you cant use it to run emulators like a dreamcast. i'd snatch one up in the wild for kicks but there arent that many good CDi games to justify the cost (in my book, others may not agree).

Yep, it plays VCD's. ALL CD-i's do. They all play CD-R and CD-RW's too. I watch my Starcade VCDs on my portable CD-i! Now THAT's retro madness.

But you have to make sure that you use a low burn speed or else some models won't play them.
