Overclock it!

Man, I've been hanging around that board for the past couple months getting info and advise about my new computer that I'm currently modding the crap out of, and this popped up.

Try it out, I know you all have a spare N64 ;)

The video says that it makes the game "go faster." Does this mean an increase in framerate or an actual increase in speed? It's kind of misleading...

Very exciting, though! I am definitely considering doing this; it doesn't look too difficult, and I've got an itchy trigger finger on my soldering iron...

The video is strange. I fail to see how an overclocked CPU and smoother frame rate would enable the guy to race tracks in better times. The game clock would technically be rated alongside this increase, eh?

Here's your answer Brat-Worst

Since there's no frame rate limit, yes. With no drone cars in Rush: Extreme Racing, the movement of the car and physics are accelerated. However, the clock and lap timer still track seconds/minutes perfectly. I still don't understand how this works..researching it at the moment.

However, with games like Perfect Dark, I've noticed that since it runs at such low FPS most of the time, with the overclocking it'll run great almost all the time, with only a few points in the game where the frame rate will spike and everything will go about 2x the speed.

As much as I loved Goldeneye, it's tough to go back and play it extensively since it runs so slooooooooooow. Looks like I'll have to crack one of my systems open and give it a try.
