Does this bother anyone else? Have you ever beaten a game on Easy or Normal and then got a stupid little message that says "Now Try Hard Mode!"? I mean it's geat that most games have adjustable difficulty levels, but what's the point when you know you'll just have to beat it on the super hard mode to see the ending? It makes me feel like I just wasted an hour of my life... Worse yet many modern games won't even give you all the levels unless you play the game at the hardest difficulty. Some of us just don't have the time to master a game like that.

Yeah, that's pretty annoying. Especially in race games. In Colin McRae rally 2.0 you can't even go for the hard mode untill you've finished the easy mode.
And the easy mode in Castle of Illusion is nothing more than 3 short levels, while the hard mode has 9 bigger levels.
I understand game developers want their customers to play the game as long as possible, but maybe they should put more QUALITY in it instead of an endless stream of compulsery modes.

I really hate that too... especially when the game is hard on the medium difficulty!

I go through a game on the 'medium' setting and get my ass kicked all over the place, curse in immense frustration, and barely beat the last stage to get the message;

"Congratulations!!! Try the Hard mode for an even better challenge!"

It's at this time I grab a Game Genie or use cheats. When I beat the game with a cheat slant, I don't even feel bad about it. There have been times where I wanted to write the programmers a letter.

"Congratulations!!! I beat your game with a cheat device cause I had no choice. Stop taking your electronic wet dreams so personally. Games were made to be beaten."

Of course, the letter was never sent. ;)

I feel the same, especially after busting my butt on stuff like Contra 3 or SF2 or a shooter.
