This isn't really a prototype, though there are a few screenshots available at the link below. So far the source code (or a working prototype) have yet to be found...so they might not even exist.

If Happy Camper would have been released, it would have been one of the best Color Dreams games of all time.

That's a pretty bold statement, considering you've never played the game.

Anyway. That's interesting. I asked Valesh about four years ago (wow, I've been at it for a long time) if I'd ever get to play Happy Camper, and his reply was, "Only if you program it yourself." I guess he's had a change of heart, if he's looking for resources for you.

You're right Frank, I guess that was a pretty bold statement on my part. I'll have to change that to "could" LOL

Anyway, when working on the project I just shot him an email and he said that he would see if he still had anything from Camper. He did not find the source code but he did find a few graphics files.

That text layout and font looks like it was ripped directly from lostlevels. Good to see some things never change.

Riiiiight  Maybe the font looks familiar because I use Arial...one of the more common fonts around. Hmm.

Anyway, if you have a probem with my websites, please contact me personally. Send me an email or a pm and we can talk about it. But publically harrasing me on the Digital Press messageboard is an option which does not settle well with me. I might contact Joe about this if such problems continue.

All right, all right, cut the flaming or I move this to the Battlezone.

And for the record, I use Verdana, not Arial, on Lost Levels.

You know, I actually started a similar website to this around 3-4 years ago, before even TheRedEye.net. Which is funny, because I really don't enjoy Color Dreams games at all. The first thing I did was make complete maps of Secret Scout. I mean, pixel-perfect, with enemies and everything.

Needless to say, I got halfway through before my little project died from me realizing that A) it was pointless and B) I was starting to hallucinate.

EDIT: I just remembered, I also had a sprite comic planned that took place entirely in the Color Dreams lobby, with their gaming stars looking for work. Boomer cussed like a sailor, the guy from Secret Scout was a heroin addict, the characters borrowed from Sachen arrived on slave ships, etc.

I meant more the spacing and use of italic etc more so than the font itself, maybe it's just me but remove the header and it looks like a lostlevels article.

As for harassing you?, isn't this thread all about feedback? I thought maybe you didn't notice how much it resembles lostlevles and would want to change it to look more original?.

Wow, that's rich. That would have been a riot to see.

The comics never got past conception and sprite-ripping, so no. They don't exist.

I'm not 100% sure who "Valesh" is, but NGD bought all of the remaining Wisdom Tree stuff (commercial adds on tape, disc, stickers, labels, boxes, manuals and game-chips) from somebody from the company.

He's had all that stuff for months (like 6 months) but didn't get around to checking to see what was on all the chips.
He just discovered that Happy Camper was on one of them.
So to answer your question of "How much?"... however much it cost him to buy out all that stuff originally.

Oh, (Jon) Valesh is the programmer. The guy who said 'This is the worst game ever and I refuse to let the world see it', hence why I asked how much he was bribed to give it up.

Good to see it squeaked out.

This coming from the Color Dreams guys? Wow, that game must REALLY suck then. It didnt look all that impressive from the pictures in the first post. Has any more information been posted?

There's a thread over at NintendoAge. You have to be a member to see any posts, though.

Hi all :)

I do indeed own the proto for this, and am in the process of releasing it CIB as well. I am taking a pre-order (just started a thread here on it in fact).

Considering all the stuff I snagged in the lot of stuff I bought I pretty much got this for free cause I had no idea it was even in there. I also snagged a proto for Free Fall that is different from the ROM file that has been floating around for a few years.

Yeah, that guy bought 2 from me. I had the original box art sketches from the lot of stuff I bought out. I had it all converted over into print ready stuff and had it all done myself through various contacts.
