If you remember another ones, contribute to the list!!!, screenshots of the games or the company logo helps too much...

It seems like such a list would already exist, though.

Irem is gone now?! Holy crap, I didn't even know. Is that why R-Type Final is the last game in the series?

Yeah, Atari is making most of those junky games, (IMO) and SNK is still making MVS and AES games. It's just the NGPC that's dead, and that really sucks, because it's my favorite pocket system...

Did Infinium Labs ever get off the ground? I mean, did they ever actually make something?
Wisdom Tree probably kicked the bucket a while back, but I always pictured them as a few church volunteers who manufactured NES carts in the donuts-and-fruit-juice area of the rectory. So... Maybe they're still kickin' around.

Well, I consider Atari died after the Jaguar died.
As for SNK, they went bankrupt in 2001, and got bought out by a company called Playmore, who then changed their name to SNK-Playmore. If you look at the box of any SNK game released in the past year, you should see the SNK-Playmore logo somewhere.[/quote]

The entire ompany (name, logo, games, everything) has been sold off to different parties years ago. IIRC Infogrames boughtd the name & logo and began using it on some of their products (see the Neverwinter Nights box). last year they officially changed their name.
SNK = SNK Playmore
still around. SNK went bankrupt & sold off their properties. The winner was the Prez's sister in law (who was given the purchase money by the prez himself). Ater buying themselves back, the name changed to Playmore. Then later to SNK Playmore

Absolute?
Whatever happened to Accolade and Sunsoft, by the way? I'm not sure if they're gone but they may have moved into more conventional computer software and away from games...not sure about both but that's the feeling I get...

And that's why Atari can CLAIM to be Atari.
Back in 1984 when the company was divided, Atari Games was the arcade branch and Atari Corperation was the home console branch. Eventuly in 1995 that merged with the hard disk company -- oh shoot, I forgot their name right now. The rights and their properties ended up in Hasbro's hands, which were sold to Infrogrames, who renamed themseleves Atari. So Atari DOES have all the rights and everything that Atari Corp did. It's still half of Atari.
The arcade branch ended up in Midway's hands, who closed the branch in 2001.

I think Sunsoft's still in Japan, their US branch died years ago. Absolute's dead, but I think they're now called Skyworks.

Vic Tokai is another company that is still alive and well in Japan but for some reason stopped publishing outside that country.
