I recently purchased one and it doesn't work. I was hoping maybe I could find an answer here. I have taken it apart...Whoever said to heat up a pen to remove the screws was genius. Although I had to drill 2 of the screws out ,I didn't damage anything that wasn't plastic.I then cleaned out the guts and connectors to no avail..Is there a new pin connector available? By the way, my name is Marc and I have been collecting for about 2 years now and I absolutely love this site! Where have you guys been all my life???????

You could try the internal fuse inside the SNES. I had one blow a fuse once, although that was a PAL SNES playing NTSC games with a convertor. Still, it might be worth looking into. Also, when you say that the SNES is not working, in what way is it not? Does the LED come on? Can you get it to power up but it just won't load any games? Obviously, if the LED is coming on, that probably rules out the fuse suggestion!

Ugh, just for the record, security game bits are around $5. It REALLY beats drilling out your screws <shudder>

Here is how I clean the pin connector (which by the way comes on ebay infrequently):

I take a old toothbrush, spray it with my cleaning solution (4 parts water 1 part alchohol), and just brush away all inside of it. I let it set for a few days and then it plays fine generally. Might work for you, might not. I have done this to several that had problems and they straightened up just fine.

Did you get your SNES fixed? Just curious. I had to do another one the other day. How exactly does coffee get into those things I'll never know ... :)

MCM ( www.mcmelectronics.com ) sells SNES cartridge ports, part # 83-3150. Hope you're handy with a soldering iron.

I tried the toothbrush on it but to no avail..I think maybe the port is too corroded to clean it up enough.Guess I am just outta luck on this one. That's okay tho cause I only paid 10 bucks for the console,hookups,3 control pads and 10 games + 2 N64 games as well...I wonder if the roaches could have sabotaged it,there are a lot of droppings inside..nasty

Ewww...

Sounds like you got stuff worth more than $10 out of it anyway, even if the games aren't particularly good ones. :)
