I recently purchased my first arcade, Arkanoid cocktail arcade. Howerver I know absolutly nothing about arcades and only from looking at pictures and inside the machine think that it was originaly a tron arcade and has been transfered into arkanoid. It pretty much needs a new coin door, leg levelers, power cord and monitor as well as the overlays. However how hard would it be to switch this back to the original Tron arcade that it once was. Also remember I know nothing about arcades. Anyhelp would be appriciated.

(Also the game works fine except sometimes it appears almost wavy on the monitior.)

TRON is a highly desireable video game, and parts for it are usually pretty expensive.

Here are a few eBay auctions that recently ended (with prices) to give you an idea of what you can be prepared to spend.

TRON side art: $100
TRON marquee: $20
TRON control panel overlay: $20
TRON power supply: $30

I would expect to pay $100 or so to get a working used monitor or have that one fixed (cheaper if you do it yourself), $50-$100 for a working PCB, plus you'll need the original controls and other odds and ends. I'm guessing you'll spend at least $300 to convert that back to a TRON.

Hope that doesn't disuade you -- I'd love one myself!!!

Actually, I think it will be harder to convert back to original as it's a cocktail table. There are lots of parts out there for the uprights as a good portion were converted over their lives. But the cocktail is a lot rarer and had some parts that were unique. I would expect the joysticks would be next to impossible to locate. But on the plus side, you don't have to worry about having any art other than the underlay, which is pretty simple if I remember correctly.

Like other members have suggested, hit RGVAC and see if anybody has the joysticks or even complete control panels (I'd bet yours have been cut to fit the spinners).

Good luck with it!

I am in the same boat. I just got the tron tabletop arcade game and I think the monitor got broke in transit and I have no idea how or where to go to get it fixed! Please help!

Just a heads up, last post before yours - 04-11-2004, 08:29 PM.

Here's hoping you can get your cab running again but you may want to post a new thread over in Arcade Alley. :)
