What's the BEST and SAFEST way of cleaning your old Nes carts if you can't find a cleaning kit?

use alcohol on a q-tip.
then use a clean q-tip to dry.

if youre really concerned about using alcohol, then dilute it 50/50 with distilled water.

although, i dont know of any problems from using alcohol to clean metals...

the substance that the nintendo kit used was dilluted alcohol if i remember correctly.... it actually may have been the same shit as "tape head cleaner" that you can buy at radio shack.

q tips and rubbing alcohol. just dip a side of the q tip into the rubbing alcohol, then hold the cartridge upright(pins nearest to the ground) this is so the alcohol doesnt leak into the game, then just rup each side of the pind while applying some pressure. then dry it with the other end of the q tip. The back of the cartridges says not to do this but its safe. also I hear that erasers are good too.
