I hope I'm posting in the right forum if not, sorry mods! I didn't know the correct place to post this.

I just purchased the Sega Genesis game, Superman (1992 by SunSoft) yesterday for my son. Unfortunantly it did not come with the user manual.
Anyone know where I can find one on-line or otherwise? Oh, and please note this is not the Death of Superman game.

What I really am trying to find is the controller set ups and how to activate Superman's different moves and powers. I am also trying to find any other important things one might need to know for gameplay.

My 77 year old Dad owned this system and gave it to my 7 y/o a year ago. We go out looking for games for it pretty regularly and have quite a bit of fun doing it.

I own an X-box but truly am an old school gamer as Pong came out when I was a kid and I still remember when video arcades were THE neighborhood hangout. Great fun.

Anyway thanks very much in advance to anyone that might be able to help me out.

Best wishes and happy gaming and collecting!

Greets, Bill!

I wasn't able to find anything online through some quick searching, but I have the manual and can check it this evening for you if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

Enjoy your stay, and game ON! :)

Hi A.A.!

Thank you!!!!!!!!! I appreciate any help you can send in my direction. I spent 3 hours on-line trying to find anything I could but have pretty much hit the brick wall. Even tried calling SunSoft, which appears to be completely out of business. Lol, the things you do for your kids. Although now I'm pretty stoked to give this one a try myself.

Thanks again!

Well, this might not be much help, but:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=3089971962&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
It's not manuel only, it's the complete game, so I'm not sure if you'd want to buy another copy for the manuel.

Hi Lone!

I came across a couple of different copies up for sale and considered buying them but I would prefer just find the necessary instructions.

I do however appreciate you taking the time to look around on the net trying to find something. Thank you. That is appreciated. Makes the new old guy feel very welcome here.

Best wishes and happy gaming!

Alrighty, here ya go:

A: activates super power

B: Punch

C: Jump (only in ground stages). Up+C = jump higher

Left x2 = run left
Right x2 = run right

Run+C = running jump

STAGE 1-1: A = Sonic punch / B = Punch / C = Jump
STAGE 1-2: A = heat vision / B = punch / C = heat vision
STAGE 1-3: Same as stage 1-1

STAGE 2-1: Same as stage 1-1
STAGE 2-2: Same as stage 1-1

STAGE 3-1: Same as stage 1-2
STAGE 3-2: Same as stage 1-1
STAGE 3-3: A = heat vision / B = punch / C = jump

STAGE 4 (entire level) same as stage 1-1

STAGE 5 (entire level) same as stage 1-2

-----

"S" Icons:

YELLOW & RED: increases life increments in life gauge
BLUE: changes gauge to Hyper Spin; fills up Hyper Spin gauge
BLACK & WHITE: 3000 points
RED: Changes gauge to Sonic Punch; Fills up Sonic Punch gauge

CONTINUES: earned at 40K, 80K, 160K, 240K, and 320K points.

Hope that helps! Game ON!! :)

Arcade you da man!!!! I thank you for the assist and so does my son. We had kind of figured out some of the controls last night, but we were both getting frustrated with not being able to have heat vision, trying to figure out how to fly, and what the hell the icons did! Now it makes sense.
By the way did the manual make any mention of special moves you have to discover or hidden powers? Some of the Sega superhero games had that kind of stuff, in particular Hulk comes to mind. (Hulk for Sega-Genesis is actually a kick to play, I love that game lol!)

Anyway THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Best wishes and happy gaming.....

Hey old school, welcome to the group! A game you should definitly look for is Kid Chameleon, I know the name sound weird but I assure you it is a great game. And, it can be found for less than 5 or 6 bucks. Keep on old school gaming and feel free to post any questions you come up with...someone will have an answer for sure.

No special moves mentioned, but I did just run across this little bit that's probably worth mentioning:

(from page 7) "Some enemies or obstacles cannot be destroyed by normal punching or weak Heat Vision. You must wait until your super power gauge is full and use full strength power against them. Also, it is important to note that you cannot duck and use your Sonic Punch at the same time."

And signs will appear (they say "Spin Here") to tell you where to deploy the Hyper Spin move. :)

Thanks again for the clarification Arcade! I was wondering about the hyperspin thing.

And CinneadThe2nd thanks for the suggestion on Chameleon Kid, it is fairly common because I have seen it a number of times at my two favorite game stores. (Although one of them is closing  )

Happy Gaming everyone!

Any time this happens in the future, I would check out GameFAQs www.gamefaqs.com. Although they have walkthroughs and cheat codes, and they are text-only, many of the FAQ's start with descriptions of the games and their controls.[/url]

I actually have that site bookmarked, but they had 0 information on the game, just a couple of screen shots from the beginning of the game. But you are right that is a great site for vintage game info. Thank you for making the suggestion on Gamefaqs Sirdrexl, it's too bad Sega couldn't be as helpful. I recieved a rather terse "we don't have any information, thanks for your question." e-mail from them.
