SNES kiosk...Perfect yet pricey...How I love video games

$127.50 is overspending? I know there were a lot of these but they were never intended to be sold...in any case the stuff you've got there is at least $60 worth of materials if you consider the case, TV, and whatnot to be worth what the SNES is LOL

look at it this way tho...you bought a snes with two controllers, 4 games, a tv, and a collector's item. usually those kiosk televisions are pretty crisp too...

I daresay that you won't be buying one from somebody who knows what it's worth then! $130 is probably a bit low for a collector price, actually, but not by that much.

If you CAN find one cheaper than that, go for it...

The SNES doesn't look yellowed, but the controllers are definitely cornbreadish. I saw that on ebay too and had it on my watch list. I wish the seller would have allowed pick up though. :o

Is there a multi-tap inside of it or do the light/TV/SNES run off of a special power supply? Can you turn just the light on? What kind of bulbs does it use? Are there any timer features that you can implement? If so, how is the timer implemented? Does the kiosk use a key? What kind and where? Et cetera...

The one I had only had one master cord, that plugged the thing in, but it was a cord that ran from a sort of power supply on the back of the kiosk where you plugged in the system and monitor. The light comes on when you plug it in, I don't recall a switch to turn it off independently. Uses standard flourescent tube far as I could tell (did not take it out) There is a timer control on the side you can set for how long you want it to play before a reset, or you can set it to unlimited time.. No key that I saw, or saw need for.

The controllers are the biggest pain in the ass, because they have to be installed from underneath and you have to remove the bottom panel to do so. The monitor is very nice and has brightness and contrast controls on the side, its some sort of computer monitor, but I forget which one (I'm not that computer savvy). The big downfall is the lack of volume control, the thing is on FULL BLAST all the time unless you splice in a volume knob to the speakers. If there is a volume control, I never could find it. The monitor actually velcros to the base and sits on a little riser.

A SNES kiosk is a fun fun thing to have. I highly recommend one! :)

Holy cow, a computer monitor? Damned if I don't know why Super Metroid looked soo deliciously lickab...er, so smooth and...erm, perfect, Yes, pixel perfect, back in the day.

If I had some money right now I'd be offering $200 for that machine, and I suppose if anybody wants to sell theirs I'd be happy to save up more than that amount to get one. I mean really. The thing's awesome.

I have two different versions of the SNES counter display. The main differences are in the base. One has a rubbery ribbed surface underneath - this one has a panel that slides to cover a volume screw and DIP switches to set the timer. The second one has a black metal base with two speakers sticking out at an angle. This model has volume and timer knobs in the top door along with a storage slot for a second cartridge. Both have one cord going to the wall and one power jack for the monitor to plug into. The game system plugs both video/audio and power into a circuit board. The power comes from the main and splits to the light, speakers, monitor jack, and the circuit board to power the system. The A/V cord connects to the same board which converts the signal to a 9-pin connector. The monitor is a Zenith 13" flat-screen but does not say what type (model # C015MNTC1). I'll get some close-ups on my Yahoo picture album soon.

It is most likely an RGB monitor. The SNES can output RGB (which looks absolutely amazing compared to RF, composite or s-video out). Nintendo produced 'official' RGB cables in Japan for the SFC but didn't release any equivalent for North America since TVs with RGB inputs are virtually non-existent here.

I'd love to have something like that. I'd gladly pay that much or more for a display demo kiosk of anything. But I have a few problems. If I got it on eBay, I'd have to either find a Local auction or pay a buttload for shipping. And even if it was local or I found one local anywhere, I'd have nothing to transport it in. And delivery would be a bitch.

I picked up one of these, minus the monitor, at a pawn shop for $20. Same pawn shop that sold me a boxed SuprGrafx (no controller, dammit) for $16, a boxed toploader for $20 (I think), and complete SegaCD Lunar (2 copies), Lunar 2 and Snatcher (among others) for $4 a pop. No, I'm not telling you where it is. :)

The SuprGrafx, toploader, and extra copy of Lunar are probably for sale. The kiosk MIGHT, just MIGHT be for sale, for the right price. I don't need it, the light doesn't seem to work, and I have no monitor. All the same, I really dig it. I'm trying to fund one o' those XBOX Halo bundles and a XBL kit, though.

My apologies to the mods, I didn't mean for this to turn into some kinda "for sale" post. I just meant to throw in 2¢ on the kiosk, and got off on a tangent. :D
