"One downside: you cannot connect a 32X to this bad boy."
Really? I have had my 32X plugged into my Multimega for several years and have had no difficulty in playing either 32X games, or 32X CD games. And I know a guy who runs his US 32X through a CDX with similar success ... my understanding was that the CDX / Multimega were rushed out and Sega had not had a chance to fully test the compatibility so they just opted to not guarantee the compatibility just in case there were any glitches.
But I certainly haven't come across any difficulties. Has anyone else?

I've had a 32x in my CDX before also. Maybe it comes down to legal issues. I'm pretty sure the US government wouldn't let Sega tell consumers that the 32x and CDX could be connected. I'll see if I can find anything to back that up.
Here's (http://www.emulationzone.org/consoles/segacd/cdx32x.htm) the closest thing to "official word" that I can find.

I think the main reason they say not to is because of all the interference that combo supposedly causes. I'm not exactly sure though...I don't think the 32x adaptor for the cdx ever came out, either. To keep it stable.

I have a 32X instruction booklet and it shows a picture of the 32X being hooked to the CDX. You need a special spacer but that is about it.

What kind of interference?

This is what happens when I have two listings for the same thing in the database (rare that this happens). The Genesis version of the listing is clearly outdated. I had this entry in there before I had ever owned a CDX. The Sega CD entry (and the scarcity of 4) is the more accurate of the two. It really SHOULDN"T say that "you can't connect them". It should say that "Sega doesn't want you to connect them" (see post above for more details).

*bumping an old thread* - it makes more sense to bump an existing thread than recreate the wheel
I know that the CDX-32X spacer was never released, but does anyone know what it was supposed to look like? What the dimensions were? Is this something we can someone make ourselves?

I'm curious as to why you ask...the 32X fits just fine without any spacer at all. The fit/stability is not as good as it could have been, but it works.

This is my concern. The fit and stability. I know it works, but I'm wondering what the spacer would have done to make it fit better and be more stable. Or, is there anything that can be done to keep the thing from wobbling over besides the spacer, i.e. other supports.

Hmm, gotcha. Actually, what I also wish is that they recessed the front so that you could open the CD lid, but no dice.
