Open your xbox halo bundle ?!?

Were you among the few who had reserved the Halo xbox bundle with the cool green shell (not the ugly dew one) I got mine on release day.
The question I have for evryone who bought one of these is....Did you open it, or plan on opening it? I have been thinking about it myself but can bring myself to open it because I have an xbox anyhow.

Let me know what you think or did. ;)

My modded xbocks refuses to read CvS2 anymore and has trouble reading a couple other games, so yea I opened mine. I'll just use it for xbocks live.

Mines gonna be a "backup". Id have gotten mine yesterday or whenever launch was, but my local EB didnt get them until this morning. Mines been taking longer and longer to boot, Im pretty sure its because of the crappy Thompson drive in my Launch Xbox, so this will be my backup, and stay sealed until its service is needed.

For those who did open the bundle. do you happen to know which DVD drive they put in the Halo xbox? Samsung, I hope. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Samsung.

I opened mine. I will be using it untill I get a new laser and IDE cable for my other X-Box. Then it wil go on display untill it is needed.

Directed mainly at ubersarus cause you've opened yours. What exactly is on that "new" Halo 2 preview? Is there new gameplay footage, or is it the same E3 03' sequence, The Jump sequence from 02' and the mini interviews of the Bungie crew that are all over the net? When I picked up mine today the store manager said that there was some new stuff on it, but he hadnt seen it yet to say exactly.

edit: nevermind looks like i got a phillips drive, same as my other xbox. i hope it doesnt travel down the same path.

I ordered mine from Bestbuy.com tonight--it is on backorder, hope I actually get one!! I shouldn't have waited so long! When I do get it, I will open it carefully to make sure everythings there, and looks good, then probably pack it back up, and play my current xbox till it's demise (I have a launch xbox with a thomson drive--eek!!). My current Xbox is working great still *knock on wood*. I might hook up the new Halo Xbox just to see what kind of drive it has, since noone here seems to know what drive/drives Microsoft used! @_@

i got mine yestarday at launch, even left work early to get it, and hell ya i opened it up, i wanna show this bad boy off. AND about the halo 2 question, they had 3 different movies, one was the short jump seen they always show but there was another one too that covered like the first 15 min of the game, it looks breathtaking, i cant wait till the game is out

In this 15 minutes of play, in the beginning (first few minutes), did the MC bust out double pistols? At the end of it, was he surrounded by Elites, get dared by Cortana's voice that he couldnt stick it, turn on a plasma grenade and say "Your on" and charge them? If so then thats the E3 video from last year...

How can you call the Dew x-box ugly? That thing is so cool looking. It isnt awsome looking, but I like it's unique look. I want the Xbox/halo bundle but its not worth it in my eyes.

Ok let's get to the bottom of this--those of you who have their Halo green Xboxes, and have opened it and used it, what disc drive does yours have? I am hoping it is either the Philips or even moreso the Samsung!! I hope M$ dropped the bloody Thomson drives--they are ones that ALWAYS have the problems!! There seems to be a fair amount of you that have the new Halo Xbox, and have used it, so what drive is in yours?

I've heard of people getting Thomson drives.

As I've said, mine is Phillips, wish I woulda got Samsung

You should be glad you got a Philips!! Samsung is the best one followed by Philips, and Thomson is the crappy drive from what I understand!! Be glad Butta, be glad!!

Well if you are going for unique then the dew one is that in spades. of course I think I blew chunks the same color once LOL

The xbox Halo combo is the same price as a normal xbox plus the price of Halo as previously stated by the buttery one himself ;)

Well, I was gonna keep mine sealed, but I was curious (ok, paranoid) about what drive I got. So I took off the seals, hooked it up with my other xbox's cables, hit the eject button and saw...one hole...two holes! Yay! I got one with a Samsung drive.

I let out a sigh of relief and but the sucker back in the box.

Now why wouldn'y M$ put Samsungs in ALL the LE Halo Xbox's? They must know the Samsungs are the cream of the crop right? Since they are only making so many of the Halo Xboxes, you would think they would go all out on them and make them with the best known components--I would think so anyway......

I finally dropped the bills and bought an Xbox. For those of you who've been convinced you need to preorder everything game-related, don't. There are five bazillion tourists in Boston this weekend (3 day holiday weekend, college tours, red sox-yankees series and the Boston Marathon) and nonetheless both EBs downtown had more than enough Halo XBs for anyone that wanted one.

That said, they're pretty slick. The controller has a little "Halo" logo in the center, which is awesome. The Halo that comes packed in has "Not for Resale" on box and disc, "Game of the Year" on the side, and has 3 videos: The E3 Video, a very short earlier trailer, and the Making Of that's all over the net; nothing new if you've been following Halo 2.

I also hadn't realized how heavy the XB was until I brought it home. Not just bigger, but also much heavier than PS2 or GC. It easily weighs twice what either of my TVs (an LCD and a projector, both 5-6 lbs.) weigh.

As for the DVD drive, I have two holes on the bottom, so I take it this means Samsung? I'm not exactly sure which is which though.

Thats annoying. That makes at least 4 Halo variants for the XBox now. UG What if any demo/trailers are on the game???

Well it is a HALO LE XBOX BUNDLE--not a Halo 2 bundle!! They just threw in the bonus Halo 2 crap to get all the Halo fans more juiced about it--smart marketing in my opinion...

It really pisses me off that M$ is STLL using those damn Thomson drives in ANY of their new Xbox's let alone the LE Halo Xbox's!! I just know my constant bad luck will bring me a Thomson in my Halo Xbox.... :angry:

....I opened it up and I got Philips! I wanted a Samsung, but, I am just glad there wasn't a another Thomson in there!! I packaged it back up and will decide to play her or keep her minty.....
