Ok, I've never played it. Never really had a computer of my own that could handle it. Well, I got a hand me down that I can finally play it on. I searched on E-bay and my god man, what the hell am I supposed to buy? There's red, blue, Counter-Strike, mods, gold versions, multi-packs, GOY stuff, etc. All I want it Half-Life....exactly what I would've bought in the store when I first came out. That's it. No expansions, no mods, zip. Just....Half life. Can anyone steer me correctly. God I hate PC games....

If you don't go for the Half-Life multi/gold pack then you're seriously shortchanging yourself. I thought Opposing Force was excellent, Blueshift helped round off a final 5-6 hours before I finally did get tired of it.

I have to agree. Get the pack that includes Half-Life, Counter Strike, and Blue Shift. Not only can you have some great MP games with them (I still play CS sometimes online with friends) but Blue Shift gives the original Half Life a graphical upgrade that does'nt make the game seem so, well.....old. ;)

Or you can check out the PS2 port of Half-Life -- that's just the original game, with a few minor changes. If you have a DC you can even download the final beta release of the game.

I'm not a big fan of Counter-Strike myself...I like the action to keep going - not sit out when I die. At any rate - Blue Shift and Opposing Forces are worthy expansions, and ye should not fear thus to approach them with confidence.

Half-Life for PS2 is only $10 at both EB and Gamestop, if I'm not mistaken.

What are the min specs for Half-life again? Pentium 133 MHz, 24 MB RAM, Windows 95/NT4, SVGA video card, Windows-compatible sound card, 2x CD-ROM drive, and 400 MB hard-disk space?

If I may ask, what kind of computer were you using in July of 2002?

Yeah it will run on even the slowest of computers, so no worries. :)

I know you said you only wanted to play Half-Life, but there's a very good chance that once you play it you'll want to play all the other titles that come with the multi or Platinum Edition or whatever it's called. :) You can find it pretty cheap most places. In addition to all the games you can get with that, there's about a trillion and one mods for Half-Life that you can download.
