Hey, I see where we're actually getting a few wester-based games. There's Dead Man's Hand (already out) and Red Dead Revolver (on it's way). I think these are both for the XBox but I'm not sure if the latter is exclusive to that system or if it will also be for the PS2.

With that in mind, what are some other westerns I should get? I do have some others...Outlaws for the PC, Wild Guns and Sunset Riders for the SNES, and who can forget the classic Outlaw and Stampede for the 2600. I also had Mad Dog McCree back in my 3DO days, but are there any good ones I'm missing?

I love Outlaws on the PC! One of my all-time favorites. You may also want to check out Desperados for the PC, although I never played it myself. Westworld 2000 is an older PC game, a FPS based upon the movie Westworld.

Gun.smoke for the NES is one game that comes to mind. I love that game. Rising Zan is sort of a Western/Kung-Fu type of game for the PS1. There is also Lucky Luke for the PS1, but that got bad reviews. That's all I can think of now. I am sure there are a few more, but I think the Old West has been neglected in console and pc games.

I actually never played games on my PC much (it's not that powerful being one reason) so I don't know if I'll look for those but thanks for mentioning them anyway. I do have Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman but forgot to mention it. I may look for Lucky Luke anyway. Oh yes, there were a few levels in the original Bubsy that were kind of westerny. He even used the line "Well, it worked for Clint..." I seem to recall one of the G4 shows previewing an upcoming one where it seems to be set in the west but there are some supernatural or alien type enemies that show up. Wish I remember what game that was.

Now THAT looks hot!! Nice one neo!!

Other western themed games I can think of...

Gunslinger: a Guncon compatible game for PS1...very fun, kind of crummy graphics though...the game rocks!

Kane (and I believe Kane 2) for C64...a few mini-games, very hard, quite fun.

It seems like someone made a game called "Law of the West" for the C64 as well...Accolade sticks in my mind, but again, I could be wrong.

I just want to second the recommendation of Gun.Smoke for the NES.

Oh, and don't forget about Gunfighter: The Legend of Jesse James for the PS1. LOL Ok, its actually not all bad.

Well, how about Duke Nukem Forever?

Wait... nevermind. (I wonder, IF it ever comes out, will it still have the old Western levels. 8 years ago! LOL)

I suppose Darkwatch could be considered a western. Kinda sorta.

Well, I can't remember how many movies I've seen John Wayne battling vampires... :D

Actually, "Billy the Kid Vs. Dracula" is one of the worst movies ever made so that concept isn't great. Can't we get good western games? Why do they always have to merge it with other genres like horror & sci-fi? Luckily, I still can play Red Dead Revolver and a handful of older games. Perhaps I should pull out my copy of Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman? LOL

It's also horror, kinda, but what about Silverload on the PS1?

There was talk a year ago or so about a western MMOG, I believe...but it, along with all the other MMOGs that "busted" in the "bubble," never panned out. Hahaha...everyone thought that MMOGs would be the wave of the future. Too bad all the games sucked.

I recall one arcade that was enjoyable back in the day. You had two crosshairs, and moved your character across the screen, along with the sights. One was for your gun, the other was to toss dynamite. It had a 2-player option with a Native American as player 2.

Blood Brothers. Just remembered the name! I liked it.

I like Nintendo/Software Creation's Tin Star for SNES. It's a shooting game that can be played with the controller or Super Scope.

And check out Konami's arcade game Wild West C.O.W. Boys Of Moo Mesa if you can. It's like Sunset Riders.

Oddworld strangers wrath has a western feel to it, also looks to be an awsome game.

Just to complete my western theme games. This is an Adult version of Westworld.

http://216.77.188.54/coDataImages/p/Groups/140/140741/pages/540270/quickdrawlabel50.gif

In the tradition of the classic Mystique Adult games for the Atari 2600,
here comes QUICK DRAW!!

Tales of the Old West are full of stories of the Gunslingers. This story is about a different type of Gunslinger.
Now don't get me wrong, This is a story about the Quickest Draw in the West.......
But he doesn't use a gun!!

Showdown in 2100 AD (Odyssey 2) This game is Very common (A R1) So you can find a copy almost anywhere.

Sonic the hedgehog 2 had a western stage- But it was taken out of the game before it was released.

I used to play Mad Dog McCree back when I had a 3DO...I've never played Silverload, though. I do have Outlaws for the PC but haven't played that in a long time. Others I do own include Outlaw, Stampede, Tin Star, Wild Guns, and Sunset Riders, among others...and don't forget the western-flavored levels of the first Bubsy game. "Well, it worked for Clint..." :D

No, it ISNT. I bought it based on your info, but it's NOT compatible. Fun enough to keep, though.
