Ok, Been skimming through this old book and I have found some cool stuff.
One of the coolest things is this listing for the "Peerless Entertainment System" or "Omega"

There is a small B/W Pic that kind of looks like a Famicom with controllers plugging into the side and controllers that resemble kidney bean 4 buttons.

The manufacturer is listed as Peerless Entertainment Group, Inc.

The text reads....

100% Nintendo compatable. Playes Japanese 60 pin and US 72 pin cartridges.
Accessories include disk drive, keyboard and gun with sound effects. System comes complete with "Turbo Max" joysticks. @_@

Does this ring a bell with anyone??? Maybe never released, but perhaps a Proto is floating around???

Unofficial hardware clones are not included in the NES guide. If they were, the book would be about 3x the length that it already is.

...wait, it has a disc drive? I'm still not putting it into the guide, but that could be a great item, if it's used like the Dr. PC Jr.'s drive.

here is the entry in the back of this old book I found.
The pic looks EXACTLY like a Smartian Micro Genius IQ-501 Perfect
but it does list using a disk drive ( probably a clone of the Famicom Disk drive.
Everything in the book referncing the Peerless Entertainment Inc. seems to be that they "were" going to be legit, but I bet Nintendo put an end to that.
I havent been able to find anything more on the net about the company. I do have the old Address from 14 years ago, but I doubt it's worth tracking down.

What makes you think that thing was/would have been "legit?"

In the back of the book is a section for copyrights.
It lists the copyright info for every game and accessory in the book.
On page 13-13 it lists...

Peerless
Entertainment
System "Omega"
By Peerless Entertainment Group,
Inc.
Product is OEM for U.S.A.
and violates no patents. Is
FCC approved and carries
product liability.

So it's a mystery to me about if they really were trying to relesae this thing legit or not. It dosent seem like Nintendo would ever let someone do this.

How weird. Either they were mistaken, wrong, or found a loophole that Nintendo quickly filled.
