First off let me start off with saying that I hope you manage to find one before your interview and that everything works out well.
Now let me ask a question, Like many others I've been following the progress of your experimentation, but what concerns me is that your unit is "on the fritz". What kind of experimentation have you done on the longer term reliability of this modification?
Overclocking of CPUs is an inherently risky procedure. If the process were as simple as it has been made out I'm certain the Sega engineers would have done it originally. And then just because you got it to work in the first place doesn't mean that the modification was ready for release. I wonder if your unit is a sign of things to come with any other units you have already released.
I'm sorry to be so pessimistic, but I have a great deal of microprocessor design experience and I've been following your threads with cautious optimism. Now that your model isn't working I'm concerned that your overclocking modification actually damages the unit.

Hmmm...i think it's his NON-modified unit that's messing up. He needs both of them for comparison purposes, I believe.

I've got spares, but there is no way I could get one there (from Canada) that fast. :(
As far as long term goes, who cares, as far as the interview goes? N2O is very hard on a car engines long term, but people mod their cars with Nitrous all the time, reliability be damned. It's not about reliability per se, but whether or not it can be done. If he was looking long term, he could always look at extra cooling, peltiers. It's just a custom mod, not a cure for cancer. :)

The machines' reliability is VERY high-- once it works it keeps working. A separate, unmodified machine I am going to modify on-camera for G4 was having problems, seemingly from a power short of some sort unrelated to the actual procedure. I managed to get it working again however.
Thanks your your help though. :)
Oh, and about cooling and peltiers-- the 68000 does not get hot even overclocked. But, a peltier might put it far enough below zero it'd help stability .. but you have to accept that when you go beyond 150% of proper speed you are going to find some oddities, even if they aren't severe.

I'd be very interested in seeing the interview but don't get G4. Any chance you can upload a copy somewhere? :D
Best of luck!

I have G4 and have been seeing your progress for some time now. Please let us know when this plans on airing, as I would love to watch.

It should air in a couple weeks. I'll post details soon, but I've also got a friend of mine ready to capture an AVI for me and upload it, as soon as I know the precise time slot.
