I finally got my game gear back this week, but to my utter disdain almost every game released for game gear appeared on either genesis or master system in far better versions. Now i am speaking of USA releases only here...
But aside from "Ren and stimpy - Quest for the shaven yak" i am having severe difficulty finding games that ONLY appeared on game gear!
Help me out here! I gotta justify owning this darn thing(Actually 2 of these darn things currently @_@ )

I beleive that Sonic Chaos was exclusive to game gear. Not exactly the best sonc game ever or anything, but better than sonic 3d blast. Also i think that Sonic 2 might have been slightly different than the version on genesis(but i could be wrong).

Well, you can play your SMS stuff 'on the go'. Sorry, though, was just trying to put a smile on your face.
I'm sure there are some games, like that MEGA MAN one, which is my most desired game for the system and I don't have it. :( I only have 5 GG games, but then again I just got the system a few months back and no store around here carries games for it.

I think Tails Adventure is exclusive, also Sonic Labyrinth in my oplinion is really fun.

Sonic Chaos was also available on the Master System and I'm pretty sure Sonic 2 for Game Gear was the same as the Master System version. Like The Manimal said it's basically a portable Master system.

well if its just a portable sms then its a darn good thing that it only cost me one of the worst video games ever(a final fantasy game)! it was a trade with a friend...all he wanted was a FF game for snes which i picked up for five bucks :)

out of my domestic games...
5-in-1 funpack (checkers, chess, yahct, reversi, backgammon)
Dragon Crystal (RPG)
Junction (Puzzle - this may be an import though)
Poker Face Paul series (Gin, Blackjack, Poker, Solitaire)
Shining Force: Sword of Hayja (though it was remade for Shining Force CD, its still an excellent game)
Slider (action puzzler)
Sonic Drift 2 (lame kart racer)
but pick up a master Gear convertor to play your SMS games on the go, easily the coolest GG accessory :)

I'm pretty sure Dragon Crystal got a Euro SMS release.
Panzer Dragoon Mini was definitely exclusive. I'm pretty sure Phantasy Star Gaiden was as well. I'm sure there are a couple more Japanese games (probably anime based) that were exclusive.

Well, the Shinobi version for GG is very different from the others...

Tails Adventure. The only Sonic game to star tails, and it's a brilliant little platformer with some puzzle elements. IMO, the best game gear game ever.

Sonic Triple trouble was a GG exclusive. I think there was also an exclusive golden axe game too, Kinda RPG-ish IIRC (NOT Golden Axe Warrior)

The only game I have unique to the Game Gear at the moment is "Super Columns".

My Gamegear is a Defender's of Oasis and Stargate machine. :P
I dunno why I like Stargate so much, I was never thrilled with the movie, but it's a fun puzzle game. Also there's Crystal Warriors which isn't nearly as good at Royal Stone (the japanese only sequal) but at least it's in english. I also liked Aladdin for the system which is different then the Genesis and Snes versions.

I'm pretty sure Phantasy Star Gaiden was as well.
Nope...both Phantasy Star games (Japanese only) were originally, uh, modem titles, if that makes any sense.

Mega Man is an exclusive. Fatal Fury Special is too, as far as I know, it never showed up on Genesis or SMS (it was on Sega CD, though).

FFS is a regular Neo Geo game, and I do consider Sega CD/Mega CD games to make it non-exclusive. You could say it was exclusive to Sega systems, I suppose, but only in the west as there's a x68K version (ten floppies, I've got it in my pile of stuff @ NeoGeoMan's place).

I just want to say trying to play FFS on a game gear would probably make me cry like a baby.

Playing Gunstar Heroes on a GG already does, and that's a GOOD port :X
I'd rather swap the ten floppies, personally LOL

You mean the ones offered through Sega's Megadrive modem service? I thought those were unique text adventures that ended up getting "preserved" on the Sega Game Cans (Mega CD)? The GG Phantasy Star game I'm thinking of has gameplay similar to the main series.

There's Phantasy Star Adventure which is a text game.
And Phantasy Star Gaiden which is a normal RPG... I doubt it was a modem game aswell.

I'm afraid that I don't have any really good picture of the cover to PS Gaiden, and it could've been only one of these titles that was the modem release. I've seen an early version of the title screen for one of 'em, not sure which one it was anymore LOL

Another game that (I think) was an arcade port, is Halley Wars. IIRC, it is a GameGear port of Halley's Comet.
Halley's Comet KLOV listing:

GameGear Halley Wars:

...and according to GameFaqs listings (for what that is worth), there was a Halley Wars for Famicom Disk System as well. Hmmm....
