I hate the PS2 controller so much. So freaking much.

I love the Xbox controller so much. So freaking much.

And the only thing that keeps me from trying PS2 games or playing my PSX more is the controller.

Someone MUST have made a converter by now. I want to use my Xbox controller on my PSX and PS2. I am sick and tired of seeing all the god damn PS2 to xxx converters out there. It's like EVERYONE is a fan of the worst designed afterthought clusterfuck ever created. And I can respect that, but I want to use a controller I like. Why the hell can't I find a converter to use a BETTER controller on a PlayStation? I have never ever seen one. It's always to use a PS2 controller on your Cube or your Xbox or your DC etc...

*sigh*

I don't have a solution for the xbox to PS2 converter, but since you love the XBox controller so much, have you done the USB hack to use the controller on your PC? I did this the other day and it was friggin awesome!

I don't have a solution for the xbox to PS2 converter, but since you love the XBox controller so much, have you done the USB hack to use the controller on your PC? I did this the other day and it was friggin awesome!I don't have a PC. And if I did, I'm not into playing games on a computer at all. Not even on my Mac. I just like Console games. And I love the Xbox controller.

I fear the whole reason no one has made a converter yet is because the Xbox controller IS a USB controller. And it's just harder to reverse that technology.

But someone must be up to the damn challenge. I'm not the ONLY one who likes the Box one over the PS2. (Actually, the PSx controller design is very low on my list of comfortable controllers. Way below the N64.. Yeah.. I said it. Sue me. :P)

It's not like it doesn't have enough buttons.

The A,B,X,Y would replace the shapes. The L and R would replace wither LR1 or LR2. Both control sticks have buttons. The Black and White buttons would be the other L and R buttons. (I know, weird. But it could work in some games that don't really use the L and R as L and R. Plus a lot of games are customizable anyway.) And both have a Start and Select button. (Back on the Xbox would be Select.)

Hell, if I knew a thing about electronics and how the systems worked, I'd make it myself. Homebrew one. Sell them. Make a few bucks on the side. Seriously I would. I wonder how hard it'd be.

Do they make USB to PS2 converters? Could I hook the Xbox controller to the PS2's USB port and have it use that? Something tells me it's only because of lack of demand. And I'm sick of it. When the PSTwo comes out whenever it does, I will be buying one. And I want a good controller to use on it. And if the PS3 still uses the same afterthought design, I want to be ready.

In reality, the controller is the only reason I never bought one for myself. Sony could be getting more sales if someone would just make this device!

I like the XBox controller MUCH better than the PS/PS2 controller too (especially after sanding down the tops of the face buttons with an emory board to make them flat), but I guess we're not in total agreement, as I like the S controller. I think you said in another thread that you like the original big controller, which I didn't like at all when I had it.

Connecting the controller to the USB port on the PS2 would not work since the games wouldn't be programmed to recognize it. Heck, I think the game (or maybe the PS2's bios?) would even need to load a driver for the thing.

Not that you care, but just in case anyone else is interested, there is at least one driver out there to use the controller and/or the DVD remote on a Mac: http://homepage.mac.com/walisser/xboxhiddriver/ Unfortunately though, it's a demo that costs you $5 if you want to customize it after 30 days.

I have many a controller adapter at my website and listed on ebay, but I don't have an xbox to ps2 adapter, nor have I seen one. You could take a look through what I DO have and most likely hack something up though.

http://www.electricquarter.comHmm.. yeah, I took a look. I didn't see anything that would work. Not even combining controllers.

There doesn't seem to be ANYTHING to use OTHER controllers on the PS2! WHAT THE FUDGE? Are companies all sheep? Do they all love the "Perfect" PlayStation controller that there should be no other?

If I could have seen an adapter to use something else on a PS2, then got an adapter to use an Xbox controller on that something else, I could probably merge them. (Or does it not work that way? I'm not sure.)

Someone has to make one.

I simply can not use a PS2 controller. The control sticks are improperly placed and don't grip at all (Either does the Cube, for that matter.) and the L1/R1 buttons are in Finger-Cramp position. My hand simply does not bend that way! I hate saying it, but Microsoft got it right. And now I want to take part in the "joy" that is PS2 games. But not until I can use what I want. Even if I have to lose Analog functions and rumbling, I'll take anything!

I was at the EB Games at the mall today and I saw a converter for the PS2 controller to be used on the Xbox and Cube.

I got to thinking, is there ANY WAY that maybe it can be Reverse-Engineered? If it can convert the PS2's controller signals to SUB, can the Xbox's USB signals be converted into PS2 signals?

I forget who made the device, but I'm sure there are others out there.

If I can't buy one off the shelf, I will make one myself.
