I'm thinking of finally getting my Xbox moded (only to play emulators) but I'm having problems on deciding which mod chip to get since there are so many to choose from. I'm scared to death of killing my Xbox when installing it, so I'd prefer an idiot proof non-solder chip. I also use Live allot, so It'd have to have an On/Off switch so I don't loose my account.
What brand is the most reliable and versatile? Also, where is a good place to order them from?

I've modded a few boxen, but am no Xbox uber modder by any stretch.
My experience, and things I've read indicate that 'no solder' , and 'most reliable' do not mix. The most relaible ones, that stay modded, and attached properly, require soldering.
Seems to me any of the third gen chips are decent. I like Xecuter Lite's. 6 easy solder points, one so so (hard for some) solder point, and the rest is software setup.
A modded Xbox is a great way to save your Xbox games for the future (rip games to HD), save wear and tear on your difficult to replace DVDrom drive (rip games to HD), and to use emulation, as great tool to help decide which games to buy, or not to buy for your collection.

I have a solderless Xbit. It's been in there for about 4 months, no issues at all. Really, it took all of 15 mins to install, and it has an external USB hookup for easy flashing.
