I'm looking forward to playing this. I'd heard of it, but have never tried it. Nesman85 doesn't have a challenge for this game.
Have fun,

This game is a 'hack' of Saiyuki World 2, which near I could tell is based on a monkey king with an extendable rod weapon and rides on a cloud. If anyone could find the rom for that I'd be interested in taking a look at it.
Anyway when it was brought over to the US they tweaked a few things to create the Native American theme although most of the enemies and backgrounds remain inexplicably Asian-flavored. Ah well, still fun, and tough near the end.
I have this one on cart and strangely enough was playing it a little before this week's game was even announced.

Sounds a lot like the same legend that Capcom's Sonson was based on, as well as Goku from Dragonball Z I believe.
Interesting game though. I'm always up for a quality platformer :)

Dang, I was going to pick this game for Game of the Week. I like this little platformer a lot, and will have to spend some quality time with it this weekend.
Write-up to follow. :)

This is one of those overlooked gems for the nes. I popped the cart in my nes and it was like instant fun. I remember the first time I played this years ago I thought, "This is a megaman rip-off!" LOL Selecting stages in whatever order you choose, boss at the end of each, getting a new weapon from each boss, etc. I especially liked the touch of leveling up or getting new hearts. The extra weapons really didn't seem to help much except in those few instances where you can break a wall or an ice block. I had played this game a couple months ago so it was still sorta fresh in my mind. Took about an hour to get to the very last boss where I died (should have spent more time in those first woods leveling up). The only real gripe I have about the game is when you die you start all the freakin way back at the beginning of the stage. After dying on the last boss there was no way I was going through that stage again. Overall it's a pretty good game, something I would actually keep coming back and playing once in a while.

This is an alright platformer that's fairly challenging. The boss battles in this game are tough, and the levels are fairly challenging, so if you're a platform fan you'll probably spend some time with this. Another nice touch is aquiring abilities after defeating an enemy, and figuring out ways to use them effectively.
The only real complaint I have is probably the method of leveling up which is to collect those pears that are randomly dropped by enemies. It's pretty tedious doing that. And the last boss is nearly impossible if you don't have full health and at least 2 health potions.

One of my all time favorite nes games. It incorperates many good platform elements into the game which makes it a good game. If you have to chance to play this overlooked nes gem then play it.

Opinion: I like this game because you can pick your own pace like the mega man games. Games that are split up like this, (MM, Shatterhand), are the games that tend to play to the end. I also love games that give you new weapons after each boss. :)
Platform: FCE Ultra
Progress: I still haven't beat it yet because I hate having to respawn to the beginning of the level.

I'm always up for a fun platformer, so I checked this one out (I had never heard of it before).
Over all, it's a fun little game. The most frustrating thing was your weapon. As a whole it seems pretty useless. The whole first level I can only hit things while I'm ducking, and in later levels it seems you have to be jumping to hit anything.
There were a lot of parts of the game that reminded me of SMB3, not that they were directly taken from this game but you can see how good ideas in platformers were often recycled.
I didn't understand a lot of the weapon system and health stuff, I wasn't always sure what I was picking up or what it did. It also seemed like there were quite a few areas (I remember the snails specifically) where if the screen scrolled enemies would come back over and over, so it was pretty easy to build your health back up should you need to.
I thought it was pretty fun, I don't know that I would play it forever but for a few days it's not bad.
