Anakaris and Zangief are two examples of big guys. They're really slow but once in close, they will have their way with you and probably smash your scrawny hide into pieces. I've seen how good the AI is with these hulking powerhouses, but I myself am not good with them. I've tried Anakaris, Zangief, E. Honda, Alex, Earthquake, and T. Hawk, but none of them seem to work too well for me.
Can you work with any of the big guys? Which ones?

Yeah I used to be pretty good with Zangief in SF2, SF2ce, and sf2t, but he was definitely one of the last characters I got good at. However I was no where near the abilities of some of the monster Zangief players out there. The best I saw were in the Japan arcades as they threw me for a loop with their weird style. The players in Golfland in Sunnvale, CA were also pretty good too and would toss you around like a wiffle ball. They just had to get in close "enough" to land that spinning piledriver (which is actually pretty far). And once they did that at least 2 times, you were pretty much toast. :(
Who's Anakris? :?

Anakaris=Mummy from Darkstalkers series
Yeah the big grapplers are always damn strong, and SF2 Gief was no exception. I swear in HF that bastard can stand like across the world and grab you. He's regularly been my worst matchup.
I use Tizoc in MOTW, and he's like Gief, but not as good in my experience. Now you want strong grapplers though, check out SF3: 3rd strike. Alex and Hugo, though maybe not on the level of Chun Li and Makoto, can mess you up something bad.

I always liked using Zangief's spinning move on the unsuspecting guy
back in the day. If you weren't ready for it it was hard to stop. Ah the good old days. I still like playing him but he's not my first choice.

I will DESTROY you with Hugo. Especially in 2nd Impact. My friend Guy is even better with him; I have to resort to Makoto to take him down. ^_^
Heh, Earthquake in SamSho 2...his cheap multiple-hit slashes are always fun & easy to abuse.
I actually got good with BIRDIE in the SF Alpha series, but I never use him anymore.

I'm actually pretty good with T. Hawk in SFIITurbo and SFA3. He's basically only got three moves, and he's more or less a "charge character", if you know what I mean, even though his moves are performed by pressing 3 buttons simultaneously.
Sodom was a pretty cool character for me, as well.

You're probably frustrated with the 360 degree controller spin. If that's the case, here's the best way to make it work. When you want to pull off those incredible grapple moves like the Spinning Piledriver, first jump into your opponent, then perform a kick. Not only does this stun the enemy, preventing them from retaliating, it lets you perform the 360 degree spin without having to worry about your character moving in an undesired direction. Once you hit the ground, press the punch or kick button (usually punch... it depends on the attack you're using) and the grappler will snatch the opponent. Your best bet is to practice a little on the Neo-Geo Pocket game Match of the Millennium... its thumbstick is very spin friendly, and the game is very responsive.

Is it just me or does anyone else think those huge Characters are just a waste of Sprite. My friends and I Have This dippy guy that hangs out in our group of Friends His nick name is buddy Holly cause he looks well like Buddy holly. He is the only person on the planet that I know that uses those big guys. Hence Whenever we see those big Characters in any video game we call them Buddy Characters. When we mess around and pick em we Say Buddy Character Fight time.....LOL.......

Earthquake is pretty manageable, he telegraphs some of his moves but some of those chain-extensions are good for a quick smash, jumping around he's slow as hell though
In the same game , Wan-Fu is not bad either, but if you miss with the upslash thrust, you're WIDE open

Ive noticed Ive had better luck control wise with the SNK BIG GUYS then any of the Capcom ones.
Thanks

Well to do it standing, basically it's like this (you'll probably want a stick, not apad, for this):
Go forward, to down, to back, and as you rotate it up and over hit the attack button of your choice. if it's timed right you'll do the move right before the character would otherwise jump. In SFA3 though this isn't Gief's best way to do it. For Gief you want to hit jab punch right before you finish the motion so that the 360 grab will cancel the jab in it's first frames-for some reason this gives his grab 20% more range, allowing him to grab guys like Akuma out of range of most of their poking moves. To quote, "There is more to Alpha 3 then beating V-Akuma...but not much more". And in that fight (it's hard for both chars), Gief needs every edge he can get.

Agreed, it truly is something to watch players that have those "awkward" characters wired! I've seen a few Zangief players where I couldn't fathom how they consistantly pull the moves off and they were dead on with timing O.o Impressive !

You know, I've never given it much thought, but I'll second that statement......SNK Raiden I can put a hurt on with pretty good too
