i'm not one to usually use the phrase 'sell out', but c'mon...what's next

Microsoft presents google?

They are probably getting so much money for doing that, you would be stupid not to. Is a little wierd sounding though.

It seems their poll would also put to rest that noone wants a Nintendo DS. The fact that it's neck and neck with the PSP shows how desirable it is even in light of the great sounding PSP. Not to mention PSP has been delayed. :P

Oh yeah, were talking about Final Fantasy XI presents Gamefaqs here, my bad, uh, that's pretty cool?

Well, when you're owned by Gamespot or whatever, I guess you really have no choice in this sort of thing. An eyesore, but just a mainpage eyesore.

Just as long as I can click on something without seeing a page that contains nothing but an ad with a link to what I was trying to read (like IGN), I'm fine with it. I understand advertising and all, but those ad pages annoy me.

That's kinda dumb. Who would want a system they've never seen, except fanboys?

It's too early to judge which is the better hand held at this point.

Edit: And the Gamefaqs thing isn't any where near as bad as the time IGN was covered with McDonalds ads. The site was red, there were burgers everywhere and even the buttons had a little golden arch icons. :P

Yeah, when you have a HUGE site like Gfaqs (I had to refrain SO hard from using Gfags) it's impossible to keep it running without monetary support. And If someone wants to pay me an ass load of money they can have Pee Wee Herman present my page for all I care.

Cmosfm = Sell Out Extroirdinaire!

I still don't understand the people that fuss and whine when someone or something "sells out"....hell, they know they'd do it to! Can you blame Hammer or New Kids On The Block for soaking up all the fame they did by "selling out"? I can't!

So I guess you don't want an Xbox 2, Gamecube 2, PS2 2 "".

Also I never said which one was better, and neither does the poll. I mearly stated that the interest was there, seeing as some people wanna say how there is no desire for it whatsoever.

The poll rates the hype factor and how much people are looking forward to information on it. Where you got anybody say it's better I have no idea.

If this was a year ago... it would've been an April Fool's joke, but now that the site's been sold, what can ya do. At least it's only the main page, and the color scheme isn't quite as ugly as when the GameCube main listing was presented by some Dragon Ball Z game.

Site unseen? No... if they had pictures or something there would be more hype. At the moment there's little more to go on then a name.

In the last 6 months or so the FAQs has been hosted/sponsored by:

Star Wars: KOTOR
CocaCola
DragonBall Z: Budokai
and some others that are skipping my mind.

Sponsorship happens, but what does it really matter? It helps to bring a useful site to you for free, allow access to message boards for free, and as long as you dont ask horrible questions, you can get some good; all-be-it fanboyed answers. I wont complain about the site, I met people there that led me to here, and the help ive gotten has only enriched my gaming and collecting experience. So the sponsorship is a little annoying, dont click on the ad thats on the pages then and be glad that they dont do popups like GameSpot and IGN.

I agree. If you wanna see some really bad annoying promotion methods just go to IGN. Especially those damn pop-up flash ads.

Is it just me, or have all the polls been really stupid since the site got bought?

None of the faqs got changed and they aren't charging me for anything, though, so it doesn't really bother me much.

As if Square Enix really needs to advertise on GameFAQs... not only is GameFAQs pretty much one big Final Fantasy ad in the first place, but 90% of the people who go there are such ravenous FF fanboys that they knew about this game months (years?) ago.

I noticed the ad earlier today. I was wondering when a thread would pop-up.

As long as there are no pop ups, or ads on the side like that evil EVIL Coca-Cola ad... I'll live :)

I suppose the other 10% of GameFAQs who despise Final Fantasy fanboyism are the only people on the site I've talked to in the 2 years I've had an account.

I had a dream a few weeks ago Nintendo had a press release cancelling the Nintendo DS. It seemed so .. uncharacteristically smart .. I just had to google for it. No luck. Looks like the Nintendo Toaster is still headed for the Industry Bathtub.

For someone who wanted a bit of sympathy the other week, you're sure not giving much.

Is this a good time to point out that Square seems to be pushing FFXI too fucking hard? C'mon -- a game shouldn't showcase two TGS's in a row. Does anyone have sales figures on this? Seems they tried to ride the PSO wave, and lost.

TGS?

Im enjoying FFXI. Of course, I'd rather be playing a single player Final Fantasy game, but XII should be out by the end of next year. :)

No, I really don't think it's that. I think that you are too quick to jump on someone's simple mistake and come off as an ass. Because of that fact, I find it hard to give you any bit of sympathy for losing some money.

Apparently every day is "pick on other forum member's mistake day" for you, but when it comes around, you just can't take it.

Of course they're pushing it hard. FF11 is a failure by Final Fantasy standards in Japan. Maybe not a failure to the extent of the Final Fantasy movie, but the sales were still extremely low compared to the standard one-player titles. They're probably hoping they can make up for it a bit by pushing it hard in the US too.
