New Panzer Dragoon! wait...an RPG???

Can it be??? well i just got the latest issue of EGM and the rumor section says sega is working on a new panzer dragoon game but it will be more closely related to panzer dragoon saga, than the regulars, can this be the one we been waiting for!!?? i hope so! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Oh, good GAWD am I salivating at this prospect. It only took me 20 or so hours to beat PDS, but those were absolutely among the finest and most pleasurable hours I've spent as a gamer.

If a NiGHTS sequel appears, I may just faint.

It feels odd having been solely on the N64 side of things, I honestly have little idea what I missed out on through never having played on the Saturn :o

I've made it a mission to get every single Panzer Dragoon game to grace all non PC systems.

Somehow I think Mini is gonna be more of a pain in the ass then Saga.

yeah i currently have panzer dragoon 1, panzer dragoon 2 zwei, and panzer dragoon orta..hate to admit it but i've barely played orta, maybe when i finish remodeling my gameroom i'll get back to it
and yes pd mini is gonna be a bitch to track down...you've got competition ubersaurus lol i am after it too.
I don't think i want the new RPG one though, I don't even want saga, i want a shooter not a long drawn out RPG; i want to kill things, and kill them now. I am a slayer. I hope they make the new game true to the roots...pd 1 and 2!
and @ed: i know the feeling. Until Jan 2002 i was nintendo-only, thats when i got ps2...this year 2004 i have picked up every system sega released over here...i must say saturn ROCKS way over n64. Graphics be damned, the gameplay rocks, and the 3d saturn controller is HIGHLY superior to the craptendo 64's controller!

Now as I understand it PDS did indeed have a lot of pure action in it...or is that wrong? Damn game sites just keep goin' on about how good it is, but don't give me anything to hold on to. :(

This is a small thread jack, but....

I just got Panzer Dragoon Orta with my new XBox on Tuesday (brand new, last one in EB, $20!) and like the game a lot. Best shooter I've played since Ikaruga. It may be a rail shooter, but has some wonderfull graphics, good music, and nice gameplay. Although it's rather hard -- took me forever just to beat the airship and clear Stage 1 with a sucky score. :P

Anyway, I've never played or really even HEARD of any of the Panzer Dragoon games before this. Which games have been made in the series, when, and for what systems? What kind of games were they? Does the story connect at all from game to game? The plot for Orta is kind of confusing.

Panzer Dragoon, Zwei (two, a prequel) and Saga were all on the Saturn. PD Mini would've been on the Game Gear, I think.

Yeah, panzer dragoon is one of my top 5 series hands down, and if you own a saturn they are must haves, and Ed im sure you dont need me to tell ya but u missed so much not having a saturn. PDS was an amazing game, its a work of art, most likely the best saturn game there is, i cant wait to read more info on the new one, and i thought they said they were thinking about doing a new NiGHTS? that would rock as long as they try not to change anything, the original was perfect :P

even if youre not a fan of RPGs in general, youd be fairly impressed with Panzer Dragoon Saga's battle system. Its the best RPG battle system ive ever played.

as for orta, if you beat the game on any skill level, youll unlock the original Saturn game (technically, its the PC version), its somewhat choppy, but the gameplay is there, and the soundtrack is excellent.

Mini was an import for the game gear, if I recall.

Don't forget Panzer Dragoon was on the R-Zone :P sega also released an LCD game format of PD.

It's a toss-up between PD Mini and Saga. Good luck, gents. They aren't the easiest to find. If you want to go all out, you can get the PD Orta Xbox model as well!

i'd never get that xbox - its an import model....
my general rule is NO IMPORTS.....
i'll break it for PD mini but other than that....
correct me if i am wrong about the PD xbox being japanese only though. if theres a NTSC usa pd xbox I WANT IT!!!
although a vice city xbox would be sooo coooler....

You're not wrong -- it's an import, but they're super easy to mod.

Kind of silly to knock out imports -- you're cutting out the originals. If Panzer Dragoon was a German game, I'd no doubt buy a German copy as well.

my main problem with imports is LANGUAGE. the second problem is the modifications needed to my hardware(outside of game boy, virtual boy, Neo Geo Pocket Colour, and Game Gear). there would have to be some REALLY GOOD import-only (no USA-NTSC version) titles out there for it to be worth it...although i will admit i'd like to get a british mega drive, tv and 32x so i could get darxside...
but other than darxide, virtual boy space invaders, and pd mini, i see no good import only titles out there!

@ Krazy Kamino: The PD Xbox is NTSC, Japan uses that standard as well.

But yeah, that's like...$700 bucks, right there (used to be $800, I thought it's fallen in price to maybe $650?) for that XBox. It's a nice lookin' one though.

Krazy your missing ALOT with out any imports many of the best games never make it here, and alot of games u really dont need to speak the language. the only systems id say you may wanna get imports for is sega saturn and DC because 50% or more of the games never came here, and for saturn no modding neccesary just by a 4 in 1 ROM cart or an st key

I really hope that Sega makes another PD shooter. Orta has to be one of the best shooters out there along with Zwei. You all probably won't agree, but that's life! I was never into PDS. I'm not a RPG fan at all. I wouldn't mind a shooter with some RPG elements, but not a straight ahead RPG. Yuck. Sega don't do it! Make another shooter! Panzer Dragoon shooters are mega! Please! More shooters!
