It's a neat converstion piece, but even it's real I wouldn't pay $100 for it. It's like someone on these boards who said they were collectiing all these movie trailers from the theater, and then thought, WTF!!! I can't even watch these mutherfuckers...

I saw this topic and figured I'd throw in my two cents. Since I worked as a projectionist and assitant manager at a movie theater for 4 years I'll put my knowledge to use. First that is definately NOT an entire reel of anything since an entire reel equals about 20 minutes and is 2000 feet of film so judging by the pics I'd say that maybe that is a minute worth of footage. Second there is always a soundtrack on the release prints that are sent to the theaters. True the sound is recorded and to a point edited seperately but for the theaters' uses it is all together.

Actually that sounds about right.
It includes the cover letter from MCA stating that these are "the dialogue lines recorded by Robert Preston specifically for Atari" and the dialogue sheet indicating the lines recorded by Mr. Preston including the signature dialogue "Greeting Starfighter, you have been recruited......"
Is sounds like a couple lines of dialouge and is not suppose to be the soundtrack for the entire film... Although I don't know why they'd send a recorded speech to Atari.... how strange.

Maybe Atari had some creative control and they had to approve some of the dialouge and wanted to hear it for themselves. That is the only explanation I can come up with.

The seller states this is the actual film footage but then indicates that it is a tape of recorded dialogue, which would mean it is audio only. I emailed the seller and asked for a copy of the letter mentioned in the auction and the picture I got of it is very questionable. The letter looks as though it was run over by stampeding buffalos and yet all the lettering is as straight as a grizzly's whoopdejoo. And doesn't that identification tape look rather good for being twenty years old?
