If you are just getting up and thinking about getting the LE Halo X-Box I would take a quick trip to Target. I picked one up this morning, and what made it even better was you got a free platinum hits game with purchase of any system.

All the regular stores (Walmart, Target, BB, CC, etc.) were advertising them in the Sunday paper, so I felt confident I could still score one. I figured that traffic at Target (especially at 9AM) would be the lightest ensuring my success. So not only did I manage to get the system without pre-ordering it, I got an extra game (grabbed 007 - nightfire).

Now I'm playing through a stack of demos I've aquired over the last few months trying to see what I want to get for my first purchase.

So far I know I need HotD 3.

I should have waited a couple more days...

Reserved mine at Gamestop for release day. Gamestop called and said it was in, went by later to pick it up and they used mine to replace another customers DOA LE. Had to wait till this week to get mine. Bummer, didn't even offer a discount on a game.

Best Buy had dozens of the Halo LE units stacked all over the store Sunday night. Didn't seem like the special color/controller was enough to get anyone to buy.

Apparently, all the video game specialty stores (GameStop, EB, Babbage's, etc.) sold out the quickest. I can testify to the unit's availability at Target - since I work there :) - and I know that there were still at least two left in my store as of this morning.

One kid rushed in on Saturday night wanting to buy it, but didn't quite have the $170 on hand (he only had $100, and his mom wasn't willing to foot the extra - evil!). Since we don't have layaway, I told him I could hold one for 24 hours (standard policy) at the most. After thanking me profusely, he told me that he was "willing to sell [his] Game Boy Advance SP and [his] old Xbox" to get one. X_x

That was probably overboard, but he was the most excited I've seen anyone in a long time about anything game-related. Not even the FFXI/HD combo inspired that sort of behavior. (By the way - those aren't selling at all in Target stores, so if you want one, that's the place!)

Also, is there any truth to the claim I heard that were only going to be 2000 LE models per state?

i'm pretty sure i read that there was a total 200,000 Halo LE Xbox's made. so that'd be 4,000 per state. although i'm not 100% on that fact. can anyone confirm?

I doubt that distribution. It shouldn't be equal.

4000 for a state like Wyoming with 500K people and 4000 for a state like California with 34 mil people?

Distribution is definitely going to be based on population, as Hecan said. If it turns out not to be, I suggest you all go to Rhode Island ASAP. :)

And the PS2 is the most popular system among the customers.

Actually, I'm really hoping they DON'T sell. When that happens at Kmart, things prices come DOWN. And if they still stick around, they come down FASTER. (We had a few boxes of Windows XP Upgrade for the longest time. We clearanced them at $99.99. Then a month hater at $49.99. Someone came and bought the last two. Then about two days later they came down to $19.99. Of course, they were already gone. But damn. What Windows user in his right mind will pass up a $20 copy of Windows? BTW, we also had XP Plus! that just came down to $8 from $15.)

I keep hoping we'll get a few copies of the Halo bundle. (That's the one you are talking about, right?) If only to be able to look at the packaging all the time.

Wait till they're cheap and send 'em to Cal-i-fornia! ;D

Personally...

I think that getting something at the Blue Light Special Store is a good indicator that it really isn't a "LE" at all ;) 200,000 is a small number, but I'll have to see if I think this thing is worth getting. Certainly a great deal more than the DewU XBox units (2000 in each listing on the DewU page, right?)

And probably won't.

I knew that. Chalk it up to one of my frequent - and probably infamous by now (_-_) - mis-associations/brain farts :P

Now there is a "Tarzhee" pretty close to me, I might go in sometime to see this thing in person.

No problem. And remember, McDonalds is the one with the Golden Arches, and Barqs is the one with Bite.

Fry's Electronics has a bunch also, and in the local paper (San Jose California), they even advertised the LE as a bundle including Clone Wars and Tetris like the old Xbox bundles. I'm officially tempted.

And Post, they make dog food.

(Actually, Grape-Nuts is supposed to be one of the best cereals out there, but that's what I hear one of the plant managers said :-P)

Speaking of McDonalds, I'm gonna be making a topic about the Sega LCD games from them in a second.

Buuut, Fry's supposed to be, like, the devil. Are you sure? :O

Fry's is the Devil again this week? Man I thought it was Walmart's turn. Or Microsoft, or Sony, or Home Depot, or Starbucks, or Nintendo, or Clear Channel, or....

Blah...I've had a really bad week, so I decided to treat myself to one of those bad boys. Not a bad deal at Target with the extra game thrown in. I don't know if the salesguy was just telling me this or not, but he said on Sunday they only had 1 at the store, and there were three more that came today. I think I got the last one until they restock. It seems odd to me that they would have so few.
