Does anyone have photos or info about an odd famiclone that looks like a blue penguin with a bow-tie? :P I know that's bizarre but I'm considering getting one but cannot find any decent photos. I love to collect pirate stuff, especially when it's freakish. This'd be a great thing to have. ;)

Oh, BTW.. I should've specified, I'm mainly looking for 'info' in the regards of whether or not it works worth a damn, or if it's a horrific failure prone piece of crap. ;) The machine also has wireless controllers apparently.

I find it odd that you can probably emulate the thing in Windows and BeOS ;)

I have never seen this famiclone. The following site has lots of pics of famiclones maybe it is there.

Whaaat, FC/NES emulation is new? :D Or do you mean Penguin Emulation? I guess you could skin an emulator.

Yeah, but it has even LESS info than I knew before. :P Same photo stolen, too. I appreciate it, but does anyone have any other photos, even of the cart slot would be good. I can't even find one on it. But it does come with a cart, so that says SOMEthing.

I know that I'm a moral degenerate but doesn't the girl on the box holding the product look suggestive? I swear to god it looks like a dildo commercial LOL

Well, in Japan dildos are illegal. You need to pass them off as dolls by putting a face on them .. so that's really not too far from the truth. But a Famicom-compatible Dildo? That's going a bit far!

Whoa, sorry to go off topic here, but.....
Sex toys are ILLEGIAL in Japan? :eek 2:

I can't say they're "ILLEGIAL" per se, but they're against the law, yes. ;)

I think Ed was talking about the Linux penguin.

There's a sales page here, doesn't really say much though:

Note that it is a PAL system, according to this page.

Oh man. That thing is so cool. I want one. $30 is a little high for a famiclone but taht one is nuts. @_@

If I can hack it to output NTSC it'd be good to have. But I'd want the penguin to be cute. From this photo it looks like something I'd turn away from me when I go to sleep to avoid horrifying nightmares of Famiclones attacking me for giving them bad reviews on EG. ;)
But yeah, PAL is pretty useless to me.

I always found it funny that the Linux penguin (http://www.gslis.mcgill.ca/marginal/mar10-2/linux-penguin.jpg) has boobs. Just like most male Linux users (http://www.hrfc.ca/resources/images/exec/comicguy.gif), I suspect.

Six years later Epicenter STILL owes me money!
Alright, as I recall this thing runs some kind of fake Windows Shell (more of a DOS Shell actually) looking graphical interface (although I could be remembering another Famiclone from more recently than that). Yes / No?

I didn't hook it up. Are you talking about something like the Victor-70? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjSLZ-x-GxM)
I'd assume it just had the usual 999 in 1 generic Famiclone menu. Even if I hooked it up it wouldn't have worked. No AAs for the wireless controllers. Plus, no matter what front end it might use the games are still just the same crappy early FC games.

That looks pretty close to what I remember - probably the same item. Thanks!

How is it that there's one Penguin topic RIGHT AFTER another?

Have one of these, picked it up in a flea market around Orlando, FL last year for $29.99 I played the multicart it came with and the wireless controllers are decent. From what I recall (the penguin is up in the attic) it has a slot to fit famicom carts into the back of it. I was most psyched b/c the multicart had a picture of pikachu and all that jazz on it, thought I had stumbled upon a pokemon hack. No dice though, out of the "1000" games on the cart, they left it out.
I can't attest to how well it works as a clone. But as a stand-alone with a multi-cart it looks pretty cool. It does everything that you would expect a cheap knock-off to do. I'm actually going to get it out and mess with it a bit after posting this. Homemade Gyromite Adaptor, here I come!!!
