I have a friend who switched the plug on the detachable end of an XboX controller with a USB plug. Works fine as a PC contoller.

Makes sense. The XBox just uses a built-in ROM copy of Windows 2000 with a driver pre-installed for 'Generic USB HID Controller'- the bullshit controllers that are included conform with that standard. You could use pretty much any store-bought USB controller you wanted. (I like the Thrustmaster 12-button non-analog one myself. But I won't allow an X-Box in my house unless I'm torturing it with water or or something.) :D
