...along come Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to prove you wrong.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=796&e=3&u=/eo/20040424/en_celeb_eo/13959

The Olsen twins haven't been this pissed since Jay Sherman stole their candy back in 1994!

Pretty self serving article. At least their jackass attorney properly used the word "myriad."

And then there's the irreparable damage done to their brand name; according to the suit, Acclaim's mishandling of the videogame line has created "the single dark spot on the otherwise unblemished success story of the Mary-Kate and Ashley brand across myriad media and territories."

Acclaim created the "single dark spot on the otherwise unblemished success story..."?

The hell? Their entire career is a dark spot.

Their next development plan is a clothing line for boys.

:eek 2:

Why? ...... How?

I wonder what the name brand will be?

That's kinda what I was thinking, either that or baggy punk/rock/rap style clothes. Or they could just be preteen clothes. Who knows.

Well, what did they expect? If you don't want someone to deface you in an attempt to profit off you, you shouldn't make deals with them at all. Because if you don't know anything about video games (or movies, or anything else depicting your likeness) then you're very likely to be ashamed of the products that are created as a result. And these two probably know next to nothing about video games. Off the top of my head, I can think of NOTHING that they stand for that would translate well into a video game. In fact, aside from a few fluke Ninja Turtles games in the '80's and pro wrestling, there isn't much of anything (not even movies) that translates really well into a video game. Not that it isn't possible (I thought Die Hard Trilogy was really cool, for example), it's just that the games are often times rushed so that they hit the market while the movie/celebrity is still on the tip of everybody's tongue. So, of course Acclaim, or whoever, rushed these games--I'm sure they didn't expect the Olson Twins to stand more than another year in the public spotlight.

Whoa, was that article written by a 14-year-old or something? Or is the writer, like, a complete bimbo Valley Girl? And BTW, the Olsen Twins are not tweens anymore (tween refering somewhat to that awkward period between the ages of 10 and puberty)... They're 17, so that makes them a bit "old" to be tweens (methinks the "reporter" just watched a couple of older Olsen Twin direct-to-video movies and drew her own conclusions).

Anyway, have you guys seen the Olsen twin dolls? They're very scary indeed. One of them could be used in a remake of Bride of Chucky, whereas Chucky is played by a pro ball player's bobblehead...

Have you see the actual Olsen Twins? Talk about scarier!

I honesltly dont know what these two expect a video game based on them should be about. Two ultra-rich twin teen girls, exactly how exciting could thier lives be? Its not like they shoot lasers out of thier eyes and fight a giant monster bent on destrorying Neo Tokyo.

That article seems to spend more time trying to be funny then getting the facts right. They're suing over lost royalties.

Myabe you have to run around slapping the Mary Kate and Ashley Offical Seal of Approval on as many generic items as possible.

One thing I always wondered about those games is, do you get to pick which one you want to play as? I mean, they're twins. Do they render one of them and just change the color of the shirt?

A friend of mine and I spent a couple of hours one night playing that first MK&A game for the PS2. It was just a bunch of mini-games, like racing around in a circle, racing jet skis, crap like that. It was oddly entertaining.

Gameplay was enhanced with our valley-speak. "You just TOTALLY cut me off you jerk." "Oh yeah, well I'm going to kick your ass TO THE MAX!"

I own every mka game for gb-gbc-gba, and let me tell you, i have only played one. what the hell do they expect. most people when they turn 16, they get to drive around their parents' car with their new liscence, these 2 get a video game made after them. most quality games take a year or more to produce (unless it is an updated version of a game, but even still, those are years in the making). if they waited a year to push out their driving game celebrating them turning 16, then they would be 17 (which is about now).

my sister used to be all into them, but their products have always sucked. we seriously just gave the local goodwill literally about 5 trashbags full of mka crap. if they are so good, why does their crap end up there.

i know this whole thing is about royalties, but with them trying to push out games, did you really expect these games to be any good. People just come up to acclaim and say, "make a mka game. what is it about? hmm, well, you can decide that". nobody wants to play a mka game anymore. they are through. they are not getting their royalties because all they are, are pretty faces, nothing more.

if they tried to sue me, i would tell them to go to hell and make them come up with the design for the next game just to prove to them that nobody wants a mka game, even if it is their "dream game" starring them.

By the time they get to "Ultimate Mary Kate & Ashley 3" you will find out that they arent mere twins, but really a small army of teenage girls that look the same except for thier shirt color.

My favorite bit about it was a snippet quote from the GameSpot.

"Acclaim...has blatantly abandoned the mary-kateandashley brand and has taken the mary-kateandashley brand in video games which had flourished and has now run it into the ground."

We laughed... but we were crying on the inside, because we knew you were right.

I'm still laughing at SanrioStar's suggestion for the name of MK-A's new boys clothing line.

i swear the olsen twins still look like they haven't hit puberty. i don't see how anyone over 20 can think they are hot without being a pedophile. they look like little girls. LOL

They don't do anything for me, I always figured they were just part of that "clean" teen culture that I always hear about but never witness firsthand.

The internet seems to be interested in them, though. check this out.

True, but remember- you can find absolutely ANYTHING on the Internet.

This is the first time I've ever seen an active countdown `til legal, though. I've got this ugly feeling that as soon as they're actually 18, they'll get all of these "offers" from various media outlets: Internet, movie, magazines (porn), etc.

Strange days, indeed.

Only in the minds of parents in denial is there such a thing as "clean" teen culture.
