I found this on another site and couldn't find any info in the online guide or any topics in the forum about the system or the game. I thought it was kinda cool and was wondering what everyones thoughts were on this. I imagine its rare. I have ten of them NIB in my basement (just kidding).Hopefully the I can make it link right, otherwise cut and paste please.

I was thinking it was fake too, but I couldn't figure out why someone would fake something that absurd. lol Afterall, who would've believed a dog-food company would moonlight as a game development company.

Nice paint job... You do know that you can find John Deere yellow and green paints at select hardware stores, right? (in Canada, they sell them at Canadian Tire, in the Auto Parts department, in gallon and in spray can formats)
Well, at least that 4-switcher is now rust-proof! LOL

The John Deere 2600 is a verrrrrrrrry old joke that's been around as long as the Doom for 2600 fake has been. It was a gag a long time ago. I believe it was done by someone on this board, but I can't remember who. Anyway, everyone calm down. It ain't real. Some green and yellow paint, a sticker or two, and a wild tale of "look what I found at the feed/grain store!"

That's what I'm saying: it's actually pretty easy to do, since you can find the official tint of yellow and green paint easily. And use some more of the paint for the cart and label...

When I first saw it I thought it was a fake, but I've only ever known atari games as something that could be played on the colecovision expansion module #1 lol. I didn't even know about chase the chuckwagon until I started reading these forums, so I figured anythings possible. So Doom for the 2600, is it 3D???? ; )

This is waaay fake. It looks like the paint on the system hasn't even dried yet!
My stepfather used to work for John Deere, and brought home all kinds of premiums and other goodies for us as kids. If there had been a John Deere 2600, you'd better believe I would have known about it.

Thats funny because Andy Warhol was once commisioned to paint a BMW in the eighties for a car show. That made me think of that.

Andy Warhol is a crazy guy. I never heard of the Warhol BMW, but I can definitely see him being asked to do something like that.

Yeah they had asked several known artists and graphic designers to paint the cars and then they toured the large car shows like Geneva and Detroit with them. Some of the cars even ended up in private collections, we had an M1 (I forgot who painted it, but I remeber he was a graphic designer) in the BMW dealer I used to work at brought in for service, and they put it on the showroom floor for a couple of weeks while they waited for parts. The BMW sales manager said the car was worth well over $1 million even without the commisioned paint because the body was made of Kevlar (like the race M1's) That sure beat most of the Mercury Sables and Mitsubishi Eclipses we normally had in for service lol

The Official Doom for the 2600 Hoax page" (http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcade/8691/2600DOOM.HTM)
I did an article on The Greatest Games There Never Were for Classic Gamer Magazine back in the day. The John Deere, Doom, many of Lee K's fake labels, and some other stuff.
