First off - Hello all. I am new to the list (posted once, but have been hesitant to enter the fray after my last real residency at a board). Heard about Digital Press from the man himself some two years ago now and have mustered up the courage to join. (met Joe at a NAVA meeting and had some good conversations. I think I bought a game or two from him as well. Love the pricing guide)

It was my birthday yesterday and I managed to get a good gaming session in after my dental appointment. Gotta love how my lady scheduled our yearly check-up to coincide with my birthday. We're on vacation, as evidenced by my non-weekend, late night post. Anyway, I was at a loss as to which gaming delights I should treat myself to, it being "my" day and all, and thought about what everyone else chooses to play if they get the chance on their birthday.

Here were my picks for the day (I dug deep for some obscure fun):

1. Ray Tracers - Taito - PSX: Very fast Chase H.Q meets Ridge Racer hybrid. Messy but fun. Love the simplicity of the manual transmission. No Gran Turismo bathtub handling for me. Sorry to sound like an advertisement, but everyone who loves the early days of the true arcade experience at home should get it. Ah, how we take for granted the graphical muscle of our current generation of systems.

2. Ys Book I & II, and a little snippet of Ys III on Duo and Genesis in a little comparison: My favorite era of gaming. Almost laughable English dubbing paired with the best kind of Japanese MIDI Synth Redbook tunes pumpng over still pictures with limited animation as cinemas with incredibly simplistic, though somehow deep gameplay.

3. Finally ended my evening with a little Sin and Punishment, followed by some Radiant Silvergun; a quick Treasure Fanboy-fest to to ring in my 26th year. I wish every game fan could be as fortunate as the few of us who have been able to experience these Zen-like meditation-inducing pieces of software. Masterpieces.

Whay do you think?
