We all know that thanks to Nintendo and Sega they're slowly releasing their classic games either in packs like the upcoming Sonic Collection for Gamecube (11 Sonic games including Sonic CD), remakes for GBA, or the e-card reader idea.

But what are some packs of the classic titles of days of systems past YOU want to see made?

Here's a couple of mine:
All the past Dragon Warrior/Quest titles 1-6 on one cd.
Enix's Soulblazer trilogy (Soulblazer, illusion of Gaia and Terrangma)/
All past Castlevanias inclucing Dracula X

1. An Infocom collection that is menu-driven and runs on a Windows/MacOS environment.

2. A collection of classic C64 games (Forbidden Forest, Aztec Adventure, Super Huey, The Last V8, etc.)

3. A Colecovision collection for modern systems (They've done the 2600, Intellivision, and Activision to death. How's about another good system?)

At least there was one for PC -- don't know if it works with Win2000 & XP though. Telegames probably still sells this.

I would like to see Nintendo do something along the lines of Mario All Stars, but instead use the original Zelda games. Lots of gamers today (younger ones) never experienced the original NES games, and there are still some who haven't tasted the SNES classic.

Seeing as Sonic is being done, Mario's been done and Dragon Warrior was already mentioned, I would also like to see the Mega Man games in a package. There was a Genesis (Megadrive) game with the 3 original NES titles on one pack, but I would love to be able to play all of th games again.

For a puzzle type game, how about the Lolo games? Was anyone a fan of those?

I've played around witht he roms for the 3 Lolo NES games and they really are entertaining brain-teasers too.

A reason I mentioned the Soulblazer trilogy was Soulblazer and Illusion of Gaia came out int he U.S., but terrangma didn't- only overseas and Australia. I can tell ya, and kid Fenris would back me up probably, that it's a title that needs to come over here- it was a SNES game but the quality of the graphics and music are PSX quality and even the engaging plot and storyline is enough to make you think more about life and the human race.

Yes, Terranigma is amazing. I wonder how it would fare on the GBA.

The first two R-Types were packed together for the PlayStation, but I'd like to see a compilation of the entire series, spanning R-Type, R-Type II, R-Type III, R-Type Leo, R-Type Delta, Super R-Type, and R-Type Gallop.

I wouldn't mind a modern-day bundle of the Cosmic Fantasy games, either. Only the second was released in America, and the games were excellent for their day. Workings Designs would handle the conversion, of course.

I wish SNK would bring out collections of older Neo-Geo games. Who wouldn't want an anthology of the five Samurai Showdowns or the Metal Slug games running perfectly on a PS2? And how about Pulstar, Last Resort, and Blazing Star on a single DVD?

It's also a surprise that Konami hasn't put together some kind of "memorial box" for Snatcher and Policenauts, considering how popular their creator, Hideo Kojima, became with Metal Gear Solid. And it would be even better if he authorized the localization of Policenauts.

I want a Taito Greatest Hits compilation. I wanted it so bad that I created a compilation of my own right here:

A SEGA "the early years" compilation, and a SEGA system-16 compilation.

Or at least have Capcom release their Capcom Generations PSX series in the US already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for reminding me about those Capcom collections, Laddie. While I liked them, I think the big C forgot some of its best arcade offerings, like Eco Fighters, Armored Warriors, Battle Circuit, and Alien vs. Predator. What I wouldn't give to see them released for the home. I don't care if the company's license for AvP is no more.

And for that matter, where's the home version of Storm of Progear?

I'd like to see a Sega "Vector Graphics" collection. Tac-Scan. Star Trek. etc. It's seems like these games have never been released for home systems with Vector graphic emulation. These were some of my favorite games growing up.

Joe, i like your collection. I'd love to see updates and re-issues of Bubble Bobble, Elevator Action and Zoo Keeper myself!

The entire Phantasy Star series (save for Online of course) here in America. One disc, way too much fun.

Like other people here, I'd love to see a compilation of the old Castlevanias, with enhanced graphics and sound (that could be turned OFF of course).

Of course, I'd love to have an Odyssey2 retrospective complete with interviews and historical goodies a la Intellivision Lives!. Somehow I don't think I'll get one. :)

(Edited to add):
A compilation of Compile shooters would be mighty nice too.

I would love to see a Wonderboy compilation.
Wonderboy in Monsterland on the SMS is my
favorite game of all time.

I'll second the Odyssey 2 compilation AND the Taito compilation.

Add Universal (Mr. Do, Mr. Do's Castle, Ladybug, Cosmic Avenger, etc.) and Exidy (Venture, Mouse Trap, Crossbow, etc.) as well. Preferably for the PS1 I carry around with me all the time now.

Zelda would easily be my top choice. I can't wait for Link to the Past to finish getting ported to GBA...

I'd also like to see Metroid given the compilation treatment. Sure it would probably only be the two games, but even with just those two I think it'd be worth it. And with Fusion and Prime out soon the buzz is already there.

Nice page there, Joe, regarding the Taito games. I'd like to see many of those as well. Overall, I'd like to see more arcade compilations...there's still a lot of games they could stick on them...

Crazy Climber
Lunar Lander
Berzerk and it's sequel Frenzy
Kickman
All of the Donkey Kong games (DK, DK Jr., DK III)

@ Rogmeister: You can get Crazy Climber and a sequel (Crazy Climber 84, I believe) on a single JP PSX disc entitled (appropriately enough) Crazy Climber Arcade Hits. I've got it and I'm just waiting for my JP-compatible PSone to arrive so I can check it out.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Playstation that can play Japanese games. Is there a place I can get one that isn't too costly? And where would I get the game (as well as other Japanese games that might interest me)?

You could get a Japanese Playstation off of ebay or from an import shop, I suppose. The thing is that they're an arm and a leg on ebay and there's no import shop around here. So I ordered a PSone with a mod chip instead, from playthegames.com. It was $74 for a used modded unit, including shipping. If you like, I'll let you know when it arrives, if it works right, etc. I don't usually like to order merchandise from websites with grammatical errors, but hey, it's videogames.

As far as the import videogames themselves, as I said, there's no import shop around, so I generally go to ncsx.com or ebay. Videogamedepot.com is generally considered reputable, and you could also check out shop.himeya.com, although I've never ordered from them. I got Vib Ribbon from ncsx, Gradius Gaiden off of ebay, and Crazy Climber from wolfgames.com. I've also bought over a dozen import Saturn games from ebay.

And compilation-wise, I'd also like to see the great Taito games in a compilation pack. As far as Front Line goes, I agree that it needs the original controls. This is why I have resolved that one day I will own a Front Line coin-op (and a Spy Hunter and a Robotron)!

Thanks for the info. I can probably check around myself some...I have heard of Video Games Depot. I've seen their website but don't recall if I've ever ordered from them...if I have, it's been awhile.

It would be cool if they would release a bunch of psx games on dvd for use on the ps2.
ahh, just imagine, both tenchu games, the tekken series, all 3 syphon filters, vib ribbon and 5 need for speeds on 1 disk! A dream coming true.
