Sealed Wolfenstein 3D

Hey all, this is my first post! I've been lurking here for awhile, but now I'm finally going to join in the conversations. So hello all!

Anyway, I was at a flea market the other day when I found a guy with a bunch of sealed PC games. They were all in perfect condition. Most of 'em were crap (Deer Hunter...) but there were at least two brand-spankin new copies of the original Wolfenstein 3-D in 5" floppies! He wanted $20 for each(!) but I'm sure I could talk him down. Problem is, I have no idea what I could sell these for. There are of course no copies of this on eBay, and DP's online guide doesn't cover it. Do you guys think it would be worth the investment?

As far as your question goes...I can't tell you how much something like that is worth (I'm not a big PC guy myself), but knowing that the game is so old, 20 bucks sounds like a great deal for a sealed copy. I would only assume that you would at least get your money back if you resold them.

Wolfenstein 3D on 5.25" floppies? Gee, I thought those were all gone by the time W3D came out.

I suppose that if you bought it sealed, it would be a good idea to keep it sealed because the life-span of a 5¼" floppy isn't that great (meaning the game might not even work anyway).

Hmm, on five'n a quarters? Old PC software, even great old PC software, doesn't always go for much but when you get back into the 5.25" stuff I'd say that's about the right price. I've got some 1993-era stuff that I paid from $10-$15 for, and Wolf3D is, well, Wolf3D :)

If you wanna go ahead and buy both I'd like to see about buying one.

Well, I bought my copy for $5 and it was CD based. I too only thought it was only on 3.5" disks.

PC Software has almost no resale and/or collectability value, but I'd say Wolf 3D is one of the exceptions to that rule. Although it may or may not technically be the first 3D shooter, it *is* considered the be the game that "started it all", so to speak. Just for that fact alone, I wouldn't hesitate picking it up and hanging on to it for a while.

PC stuff in general has no resale value, but then again - most NES games don't, either. It all depends on whether it's a good game or not. Wolf3D is a good game...not sure if it's worth $20, but if you can get him down to $15 it might not be too bad. Just make sure it's the full version with all the things that came with it and not the shareware version.

Before you do any of this, definitely verify that it's actually factory sealed, because if it's just resealed, well, you know. ;)
