Serious Sam: The second Encounter

I picked this game up today for my GameCube, and let me just say ITS AMAZING! I am not to far but I am having lots of fun. It is pretty hard (im playing on normal). Anyone else pick up this game? Did you like it?

I want it so bad, but I've got so many other unplayed Cube titles that I need to catch up before I make another purchase. (Frickin' F-Zero GX is only $15 at Circuit City this week and I can't even bring myself to buy it!)

I loved Serious Sam on the Xbox, though. Someone please tell me if the enemy characters explode in Next Encounter. That was the best part of the original!

Yup they still blow up! there is an option to shut that and the blood off also.

I have Serious Sam the first encounter for the pc. Its a fun game. A lot of mindless killing like Doom. And funny I might add LOL

I'll tell you one thing I hate about it. The Normal levels are much harder than the first game. And it's difficult to get a Gold medal on them. And those are the only way to unlock the hidden levels.

Gold medals and bonus levels? Sounds different from the PC version, quite a bit different (though I haven't played all the way through that one offline).

Gotta say that playing this game online on a PC is the best way of playing it, though!

Currently waiting for this to arrive in the mail. Couldn't find it in stores so I ordered online. Day after I ordered, my local gamestop got it in....

I meant the stuff with medals and such makes it sound as if it plays differently. The name is the same as the second in the PC series, which is also called Serious Sam: The Second Encounter (TSE for short). So, nope.

The game is lots of fun on PC; if I got a console version I might be lured into playing it more often. Not having a mouse would suck, though...

I'll have to check out differences to be sure.

The Xbox one was the First encounter and the Second in one. This one is a completely new game as I've heard. It was designed by Climax and I think they did a great job keeping it Sam-esque.

Serious Sam First Encounter (Pc)
Serious Sam Second Encounter (Pc)
Serious Sam (Xbox) - combo of first and second Pc games
Serious Sam Next Encounter (GC, Ps2) - Completely original console only sequel.

MarioAllStar2600 simply made a mistake when naming the topic title. The actual name of the game is Next Encounter, it is not a port of Second Encounter. that is why it sounds so different.

They should have named it "The Third Encounter" or kept the name I thought it'd be, (Or is that for the actual Xbox Sequel?) "Word to the Mothership".

This game stays true to its FPS roots. I picked it up and I liked it because it is good old fps fun.

Word on the street is that the GC/PS2 are pretty crappy when compared to the XBox version. While I prefer the PC version for ALL FPS, I think CO-OP would be fun - so any opinions on which version is better?

The Serious Sam game that is on the Xb as stated above, was the first 2 for the PC, This one was made only for the PS2 and GC and is a new standalone...

A post on gamefaqs really goes into the differences between the two versions, the GC version has more special effects, a smoother framerate, slightly better sound and control, but only lacks online.
I have the GC vesion and it's fun, I just wish it was in progressive scan to clean up the graphics a bit, with so many enemies onscreen it can be hard to make stuff out, especially in co-op.
It's great for the price, it's funny , and great with a friend in co-op.

I am in the vineyards, and am stuck. I got to the dinamite but have no clue what to do form there. Do I have to pick up a key or igniter or something? I am getting so fustrated. Please help.

Here's a tip. When you see that X over a door, it means you can only go through when all the enemies are destroyed. Make sure you look all over. Some might be stuck. Or some might still need to be triggered. And anytime an X door opens, a FMV will play to tell you it's finished. Once that door's open, you can get to the top.

I bought my copy today and I LOVE IT!
I play it on normal difficulty and it's pretty darn hard to recieve a gold medal!!

oh....and please try the coop and deathmatch multiplayer cause IT ROCKS!

it's fanatstic how stragetical(in coop-mode) you can be in those huge worlds:
One guy(you) goes into infight with minigun and your friend fires rockets from a mountain or tower far away. just great i tell you
