I stopped by EB today, don't know why...i hardly ever buy anything. Then i saw their buy 1 get 1 free sale for nes, snes, genny. then i saw ff anthology and parasite eve (both NON-gh) complete.
i walked out with FF anthology (mint/complete with audio cd), parasite eve (great/complete with demo cd), seicross loose, lunar pool loose, starfox loose, columns loose.
all for $36.83 after tax. apparantely there was a 20% off sale also, and everything got combined...the reciept is a mess...he kept manually taking prices off of stuff because the computer wouldn't let him combine promos (which i don't think he was supposed to do). i've been meaning to pick up that anthology for awhile, so basically i got the other 5 games for free had i gone the ebay route :)

Thats awesome ! I have had really good EB experiences lately as well.
Yesterday I found Blast Lacrosse there for 17 dollars. The other week I got Final Fantasy 2 and 3 for 34 dollars after the buy one get on deal. :D
I will be doing a bit more business with them now that Gamestop has stopped carrying the older stuff. :o

It will be interesting to see the outcome of that "used game" lawsuit turns out, hopefully the courts will rule in favor of the consumer and we can start ordering from ebgames.com without worrying if our order of new games will turn out to be used games :)

None of the EBGames stores here carry NES, SNES, or Genesis and haven't for a long time.
I've found a couple of deals there, but not much.

I used to swear by the gamestop, but they've completely phased out anything before N64. I also used to hate the EB because the guys that worked there are asses, but they opened a new one right by my house and from what I can tell it's the only place in my entire city that sells older stuff, save the thift shops and so forth. So I guess I'm an EB man now.

There are two EBs by me. The one in the Mall is worthless. Only new stuff and jackasses for employees. A newer one opened by our Walmart and they are pretty decent. They still have Genesis, DC, SNES, and NES stuff. The prices have been okay too.

From what I have been told by an EB manager is that the stores in the mall have the newer stuff , while the stores in strip malls and areas not in malls have older stuff. I dont know if this holds true for you guys, but it does for me.

Sounds like my stores.

True for me as well, although i always just figured it was because the mall stores are smaller and don't have room to pile up on old 'junk'

Thats exactly what the manager told me. He said the stores outside of the malls get the old stuff because of the space they have. The EB just south of me has thousands of older games :D

The EB closest to me only has used PS1 games. They even got rid of their N64 stuff. There's another one in a strip mall that has all sorts of older stuff, but it's pretty far out of my way.

There is a reason why they are doing the buy 1 get one free deal (which has been going on for a while), they will no longer be carrying the used NES, SNES and Genesis carts anymore. The pickings are slim at my EBs, mostly commons and crap, and they haven't received any new stock from corporate in quite a while. The manager told me once they are gone, they are done carrying the old stuff.

That explains it. All the stores in Portland are mall stores.
