Best console for Beat-em-ups

Excluding the arcade which is the obvious winner, what home console has the best selection of BEU's?

I'm going with the SNES. Batman Returns, Super Double Dragon, Final Fight Trilogy, Brawl Brothers, Peace Keppers.....the list goes on.

well, this is not easy to say

i'd pick the SNES too (FInal Fight, Turtles, King of the Dragons...) but the MD is a real competitor (Streets of Rage, Golden Axe...) some people could also say NES or PC-Engine, maybe even Neo Geo, i can't think of any other console that had really many Beat 'em Ups, maybe the PSOne had some, i don't know, i know nothing about it ;)

Well the PC Engine only had about 5 or 6 beat em ups and only of them were really good in Downtown Nekketsu Monogtari and Double Dragon 2. Certainly not the best system for beat em ups.

PSX only had about 3 good ones from what I remember.

I'd probably have to go with the Genesis which only slighty beats outs the NES and Snes.

well, Seperation Anxiety, Maximum Carnage, Battletoads and another Superman game were also released on SNES, and you've got the additional ones i mentioned, Pirates of the Dark Age, King of Dragons, Cutthroat Island (if you count that one)

Yeah, but I bet none of them wear roller-skates like DJ Boy :D (and Cutthroat Island was also a MD game ;) )

I have also got to go with Genesis(even if just for the Streets of Rage series alone). Yes the SoR games are that good! :)

Genesis is awesome, I like a couple of the Neo Geo beat'em ups but there's also some pretty forgettable stuff on that system as well...x68K has some good ports of beat'ems as well :-P

The Genesis is the one I would go with. It's one of the consoles I owned back in the day, and after visiting the SNES beat em ups, there are quite a few great games but the genesis has the special place for me.

Most of those games are just flat out BAD.

Neo Geo is horrible when it comes to beatemups.

Genesis. The SOR games really have a special in my heart (and i love the music).

I'd have picked the SNES (Turtles in Time!), but most of the beat em up's i played on there tended to exibit slow down.

I did kinda like Final Fight 3.

Most of the Neo Geo BEUs were sub par to average. Whoever mentioned the X68000 is also right to a certain degree. It had some goods port, but, it's just that there weren't that many on the system to make it a contender.
