I haven't been around much the last few weeks, as I've been taking a vacation from my gaming. But then tonight, I read the horrible news.


G4 has just fired THE ENTIRE STAFF of TechTV.

It's a shame about everyone else, though. I'm also worried about the quality of the new network, given the fact that they've thrown everyone with an ounce of intelligence out the door. It'll probably be like that Spike TV video game special, except 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

My thoughts exactly... I'm not a huge TechTV fan (and in all honesty, I dislike most of the people on the channel), but this news still saddens and worries me...

I may be in the minority, but this doesn't bother me other than it sucks that people will be losing jobs. I won't miss TechTV.

Well, it depends on who you're talking about. Leo LaPorte is pretty cool, and I liked Cat Stevens and Martin Sargent's co-host on Unscrewed. On the flip side of the coin, I didn't care for Chris Leary (didn't he used to be on Entertainment Tonight? Well, that explains it then), Morgan Webb-b-b-b, or Martin Sargent (look at me! I'm the nerds' answer to Tom Green!). I'm indifferent to the other personalities on the network.

One thing's for sure, though... Tech TV served an important purpose, helping people get the most out of their computers. It was the ONLY network that did this, and without it, a lot of people are going to feel lost. Nobody really needs a video game network... it's an interesting novelty, but it doesn't serve an important purpose. Most video game players can find what they're looking for on the Internet, which offers instant access to information on a nearly infinite range of topics. G4 can't do that, and as a commercially driven enterprise, it won't even come close. Expect G4 to give us a lot of empty hype for the Playstation 2 and Rockstar's latest kill-fest, and very little else.

Man, that is awfully lame. I never cared for robot wars or anime unleashed, but call for help, the screen savers, and x-play were alll fine shows, and I liked the hosts for all 3 of em. Quite frankly, no matter what they do to it, it won't be X-Play without Adam Sessler, and that goes for all their shows and crews.
