Best news in a LONG time.

I think I just filled the cup.

I've heard good things about SF2: AE, and 3rd strike, if its closer to the arcade then the DC one, will rock pretty hard too.

So this begs a question, why own a PS2 for 2d fighters?

Why own a ps2 at all?

Hopefully lag doesn't screw SF3 because of parrying. That'll probably be the one I play less online though, seeing as I suck at parrying and would probably get destroyed worse than I do at CvS2.

From what I've heard, alot of people can parry great on cvs2, which uses a lousier online client, as well as tighter parry timing. I don't think it'll be a major issue.

PS2 = R-Type Final

Man, playing Super Turbo online is a dream come true. Now I have a reason to get a box. I wish they would have included Alpha 3 though.

The thing that I hope for the most is if they did the same thing with the VS. series.

Heh, I forgot about that game. Perhpas when the pstwo comes out and it's nice and cheap, I'll have to get one for R-Type Final.

On CvS2, I've only run into a few good parryers online. Not many people use P groove.

For the record, I will stop making fun of game selection that are on Xbox. First it was SNK and their linup going to Xbox. Now they are getting stuff like this. Although Xbox needed niche games 2 years ago, it is better late than never. I thought I would never say this but Sony, your game reviewing board has its head up its ass :D

now the quesstion of the momment.......they are going to be smart and allow offline play, right????? O_O

I'd like A3 only because a GOOD port of alpha 3 is long overdue...so far they've all been pretty trash, and I don't think capcom can ignore that. A good home port of A3 could mean more people would play it.

Screw the ST characters...Hyper Fighting Ryu & Honda are gonna kick you guys's asses

I thought Saturn Alpha 3 port was pretty good. However I've never seen or played the arcade version. :hmm:

1. R-Type Final does rule, though I will note a flaw: Massive slowdown on Stage 3. :(

B. Yeah, the P-groove is a bit tricky for me... I'm more partial to the C and N-grooves meself. :)

3. Dammit, I really need XBOX Live...

And to the topic at hand here, RTFO. Does this mean I could sell my Dreamcast copy of SF3: TS? Or would it be a better idea to hold on to it just for posterity?

BTW, if I get XBOX Live, and I fight someone at Third Strike, bring your checkbook. My Akuma isn't really easy to beat.

I dunno. Thats a good question. A few days ago, someone on GameTZ offered me SF3:TS (and Ninja Gaiden for Xbox) for my Suikoden II. I was ready to agree to the trade and then I heard about the news about the Xbox version. Probably won't sell for $60-$70 on Ebay anymore after the Xbox game comes out....

It all depends on how good a port the xbox one is. If it's closer to the arcade then the DC one, then more competitive players will want the xbox one, and the price on the dc one will probably go down. The DC one has problems with input lag, and unblockables not working, but it's still a pretty decent port.

Alpha 3 on saturn was the best home port, but there's still alot of move properties that got switched up (Dhalsim in particular got raped). Not as though anyone really plays A3 in the us anymore, but I'm sure the lack of a readily available good port hurts it.

Between this, Halo 2, and all those other fighters coming out, I'm definitely gonna have to get xbox live. I need to get some use out of that Xbox arcade stick I got.

With GGXX Reload or whatever it's called, SvC (yea I know, I'd still play it on live though) and possibly KoF02/03 and SS5/Special all being on live within the next year, I'd say if you're a fighting game fan, it's time to get on live.

I filled the cup again.

Don't forget the 3 Mortal Kombat games on Midway Arcade Treasures 2 ;) if you can play them online against people that'll rock, because there's some DAMN good MK2 players in michigan. They've told me stories of how back in the day, the arcade in detroit had a few MK2 machines that were pretty much filled from open to close. It and Samurai Shodown 2 were the big games in this area.

The sad part is...I probably would play SvC on live too.

That would be so f'ing rad if you could, but I'd bet my Panesians that you can't. I bet there will be Live scoreboards like the last MAT, but no actual online play. :(

Yea I'm really hoping for online play for MK2 as well, but I doubt it'll happen. Maybe I should go to Midways office and threaten them. @_@

eh, its decent.

It's only decent if you play single player only. Game is broken to hell on anything remotely competitive. It's not just the boss characters, its not just Geese and Zero, it's the guard cancel front step, it's the stupid alpha counter properties, it's the too-low timer, the uneven damage scaling, the random hitboxes, and the crappy inputs for various moves. I know they fixed hitboxes and inputs in the ps2 port, but that still doesn't fix the ACs and the GCFS, and those are what really kill the game.

At least you didn't write it :P I'm gonna hit Xbox Live hard when I get it and these games, and Halo 2. I should get it now and a copy of CvS2...I think my Athena must taste blood.
