First off, I don't really consider myself a collector. I'm more of a gamer who will buy stuff if it doesn't break my pocket, which is why much of my next-gen stuff came from Target. And maybe I'm bored tonight which I why I want to ask if any of the Target special edition releases will be sought after in the future.

I don't want to call these Target exclusives because they aren't "exclusives." Except for a sticker on the cellophane, there usually isn't a way to distinguish these from other versions of the games.

For instance, I have a Mega Man Network Transmission for GameCube that comes with a cartoon DVD on the back. Also, I remember that my Onimusha 2 for PS2 came with a pack of trading cards. I don't remember either of these games coming with that stuff at other stores.

Thinking even further back, I remember getting Project Gotham and Rallisport in some special bubble pack with a small Prima Guide way before I bought my Xbox. I remember Halo and Max Payne being in the same kind of packs. Later, Target put Metroid Prime and Animal Crossing in these bubble packs (Mario Sunshine might have been in one too).

My question is if you guys think that people will be looking at these in the future as rare and counting them as packaging variants. Not that it matters because these days I open most of my games (I can't afford not to)...

My copy of Metroid Prime has "Coupons Inside! $50 In Savings" in white font and then "Only At Target" in red printed on the front insert with a small Target logo near the top right side. The box looks the same as any other Metroid Prime box except for those two things. I'm not sure what the coupons were for since I originally bought it used and the coupons are gone.

I was hoping this Target "exclusive"will become valuable someday.
