I recently convienced a friend to program a simple game on the industry of video games for a computer class project. He showed me the program today and I'm pretty happy with how it looks so far. :)

The game is just a shell, all text based and only support for one other human player, but there will be more stuff added if he has time.

The setting is that it's 1970 and you've been assigned the president of spin-off company by a big established TV/Electronic/Cable company (think someone like Sony or GE) to look into these 'new games.' Your company has five divisions:

Marketing: The people who promote your system and games
R&D: Where everything is created
Programers: The people who actually design and create the system and games
Manfacturing: The people who make everything
Corporate: The 'board room' where everything is decided.

Each turn lasts a month, and you can go into any of the divisions and see how things are being done. You have the authority to make final decisions but if you overule some people (like a programer who has several hits and wants to make his own game) it may come back to hurt. The idea is for the game to last 50 years (till 2020) and see how much money that you can make.

As I said, everything is going to be very basic but it just makes me wish some REAL company would create a game like this. :)

I think text based games are awsome. Who here rememers Drugwar? That game was awsome. Someone ported it over to the TI-89 calculator so I downloaded it and play it sometimes during class. Anyway make sure that you make that game available to us when its done, cause I definitely want to play it.

Thats a sweet idea. But they shouldn't make a 3-d game like this. Text-based is much cooler. If you can get a download once it's complete, becuse thsi sounds great!
